Withtheengineidling,returnthestarter(choke)to
theclosedposition,shiftthedriveselectleverinto
theforwardposition,andthenreleasetheparking
brake.Applythethrottleslowlyandsmoothly.The
centrifugalclutchwillengageandyouwillstartto
accelerate.Ifthethrottleisappliedtooabruptly,the
frontwheelsmayliftoffthegroundresultinginaloss
ofdirectionalcontrol.Avoidhigherspeedsuntilyou
arethoroughlyfamiliarwiththeoperationofyourATV.
Whenslowingdownorstopping,releasethethrottleand
applythebrakessmoothlyandevenly.
Improperuseofthebrakescancausethetirestolose
traction,reducingcontrolandincreasingthepossibilityof
anaccident.
Selectalarge,flatareaoff-roadtobecomefamiliarwith
yourATV.Makesurethatthisareaisfreeofobstacles
andotherriders.Youshouldpracticecontrolofthethrottle,
brakes,andturningtechniquesinthisareabeforetrying
moredifficultterrain.
Alwaysavoidridingonpavedsurfaces:theATVis
designedforoff-roaduseonly,andhandlingmaneuvers
aremoredifficulttoperformonpavement.
Settheparkingbrakeandfollowtheinstructionon
page43tostarttheengine.Onceithaswarmedupyou
arereadytobeginridingyourATV.Rememberthatthe
engineandexhaustpipewillbehotwhenridingand
afterwards;donotallowskinorclothingtocomeincontact
withthesecomponents.
