Quicksilver 455CAB — System & Component Overview and Operaon
End of Life Signal
Your CO detector is equipped with an End Of Life (EOL) signal indicang the sensor used in the unit
has reached the end of its service life and must be replaced. The detector contains an electro-
chemical sensor that will last approximately 7 years. Refer to your unit’s operaon manual for EOL
signal indicaon and further informaon and instrucons.
The EOL signal can be deacvated so that it does not alarm. DEACTIVATING THE CO ALARM IS
PERMANENT. REACTIVATING IS NOT POSSIBLE. DO NOT DEACTIVATE UNLESS YOU HAVE A
REPLACEMENT ALARM AVAILABLE TO INSTALL!
REFER TO OWNER’S MANUAL PACKAGE FOR INSTRUCTIONS AND WARRANTY INFORMATION.
Fumes for the engine(s), generator, LPG stoves, and other
equipment that burns fuel contain Carbon Monoxide.
Carbon Monoxide can kill you. Open all doors, hatches,
curtains, and windows to allow fresh air to circulate.
Never ignore an alarm.
To reduce the risk of Carbon Monoxide poisoning, test the
monitor operaon when not in use for 10 days or more.
5. Steering
Your boat comes equipped with a mechanical cable steering system. The basic system for a single
engine boat contains a steering wheel, a rotary gear mechanical steering helm, and a steering cable.
Maintenance
The mechanical steering system should be checked periodically for proper lubricaon, alignment and
to make sure that the cable is taught and does not bind when in use.
Steering Pull
Propeller steering torque will cause your boat to pull in one direcon. This torque is a normal result of
the outboard engine not being trimmed with the propeller sha parallel to the water surface. On
most Mercury outboards, a steering trim tab is located on the venlaon plate. This trim tab can be
easily adjusted so that the steering torque can be reduced and minimal feedback is felt at the helm.
Trim Tab Adjustment
Operate the boat at normal cruising speed, trimmed to the desired posion. Turn the boat le and
right and note the direcon that the boat turns more easily.
