What to do if Radio Shack Weather Radio isn't responding to weather alerts?
    • K
      Kevin SimsAug 13, 2025
First, ensure you've programmed the correct FIPS codes. Check that 'ALERT ON' is displayed; if not, set ALERT ON/OFF to ALERT ON. Extend the telescoping antenna fully. Ensure the Weather Radio is set to the correct NOAA channel for your area. If the backup battery is weak, it might not sound a tone during alerts, so test and replace if necessary. Also, make sure the FIPS codes stored in memory are correct if the Weatheradio hasn't received any SAME alert signal for about one week. Finally, if your computer is nearby, it might be interfering with reception, so move the Weather Radio further away. You might also be out of the weather broadcast’s range, so move the Weatheradio closer to the broadcast if possible.

Why does the alert tone sound intermittent on my Radio Shack Weather Radio?
    • C
      Charles SavageAug 31, 2025
The Weatheradio constantly monitors the channel, even during an alert. It pauses briefly each time it receives a signal to compare it against stored signals. Frequent pauses might make the continuous alert tone sound intermittent, but this is not a malfunction.
