What to do if my Radio Shack Radio is not responding properly to NWS weather alert broadcasts?
    • M
      Mary HicksAug 19, 2025
First, ensure that the correct FIPS codes are programmed into the memory. If possible, move the radio closer to the broadcast source. Also, make sure the radio is set to the NOAA channel being broadcast in your area. Finally, if the backup battery becomes weak, test your radio’s reception periodically, and replace the battery if the tone does not sound.

    • S
      Sandra ReillySep 1, 2025
First, ensure that the correct FIPS codes are programmed into the memory. If that's not the issue, you might be out of the broadcast range, so try moving the weather radio closer to the broadcast source. Also, verify that the weather radio is set to the NOAA channel being broadcast in your area. Finally, a weak backup battery can cause this issue; test the reception and replace the battery if the tone does not sound.
