Overview

The Radioddity FS-T7 FRS US is a versatile two-way radio designed for both professional and leisure use. It combines advanced radio communication technology with a robust mechanical frame, making it suitable for various environments such as construction sites, buildings, trade fairs, hotels, or simply staying in touch with friends and family.

Function Description

The FS-T7 is a multitask FRS (Family Radio Service) transceiver. It allows users to communicate over 22 FRS channels and monitor 12 NOAA Weather Channels. Key features include a 2-channel watch, channel monitor, and 155 privacy codes (50 CTCSS codes and 105 DCS codes) for secure communication. The radio supports hands-free operation (VOX), includes a Roger Beep Tone, and offers various scanning functions such as NOAA Weather Scan, Privacy Codes Scan and Store, and Channel Scan. It also features 10 selectable call alerts, a call alert function, keypad lock, emergency strobe light, and a backlit LCD display. A Time Out Timer (TOT) is included to prevent accidental continuous transmission.

Usage Features

  • Battery Installation: The radio can use either a Li-ion battery pack (BL-T22) or three AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries, or three AA alkaline non-rechargeable batteries. The belt clip must be removed for battery installation/removal.
  • Charging: Two radios can be charged using the supplied charging cradle. A single radio can also be charged via the Type-C USB port. For fastest charging, the radio should be turned off. Ni-MH batteries are rechargeable, but alkaline batteries should never be charged due to explosion risk.
  • External Speaker/Microphone Jack: The radio supports optional external speaker/microphones or headsets for hands-free operation. When using a headset, the radio is not submersible or waterproof; ensure the jack cover is fully pressed into place when the headset is removed to restore waterproof capability.
  • Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment: Press and hold the [/CALL] button to turn the radio on/off. Use the [▲] or [▼] buttons to adjust the volume.
  • Keypad Lock: Press and hold the [/MENU] button for about 3 seconds to activate the keypad lock. The [▲] icon will appear on the display. To unlock, press and hold [/CALL] and [/MONI] buttons.
  • Talking on Your Radio (PTT): Press and hold the [PTT] button and speak in a clear, normal voice 2-3 inches from the microphone. Release [PTT] to receive.
  • Monitor Mode: Press and hold [/MONI] for 2 seconds to listen for weak signals. The RX← icon blinks. Press again for 2 seconds to turn off.
  • Channel Scanning: Press [☑/SCAN] briefly to start scanning FRS channels. The scanning pauses on active channels. Press [PTT] to transmit on the detected channel. Use [▲] or [▼] to change scanning direction. Press [☑/SCAN] again to stop.
  • Scanning Sub-Codes: Press and hold [☑/SCAN] to enter Sub-Codes scanning. A flashing "CTC/DCS" indicator will appear. The lower display cycles through Sub-Codes. Press [PTT] to save the scanned tone. Press and hold [☑/SCAN] to exit.
  • Flashlight: Press the [] button briefly to turn the high-intensity LED flashlight on/off. Press once for continuous light, a second time for emergency strobe, and a third time to turn off.
  • Emergency Alert: Press and hold the [] button for 3 seconds to activate a loud siren and flashing flashlight. Press [] again to exit. This feature should only be used in actual emergencies.
  • NOAA Weather Radio/Scan Weather Channel: Press and hold [/MONI] for 5 seconds while in FRS mode to activate NOAA Weather Scan. The radio will scan all 12 weather channels. Press [SCAN] during scan to stop and manually select a channel. Use [/MENU] and [▲] or [▼] to select a weather channel. Press and hold [/MONI] to exit Weather Radio mode.
  • VOX Function: Press [/MENU] 4 times and 'VOX' will appear. Use [▲] or [▼] to select sensitivity (Off, High, Medium, Low). Press [PTT] to exit or [/MENU] to continue setup.
  • Call Tones: Press [/MENU] 5 times and 'CA' will appear. Use [▲] or [▼] to change and listen to call tones. Press [PTT] to exit or [/MENU] to continue setup.
  • Emergency Alarm Type: Press [/MENU] 6 times and the display shows "A". Use [▲] or [▼] to select the desired setting (Off, Local alarm, Send an alarm tone).
  • Keypad Beep: Press [/MENU] 7 times and "bP" will appear. Use [▲] or [▼] to turn beep on/off.
  • Roger Beep (End Transmission Tone): Press [/MENU] 8 times and "r b" will appear. Use [▲] or [▼] to turn Roger Beep on/off.
  • Dual Watch Mode: Press [/MENU] 9 times and "oF" will appear. Use [▲] or [▼] to select the channel. Press [/MENU] to confirm. To set a second channel, press [/MENU] again and select. The screen alternates between home channel and Dual Channel Monitor channel. Press [☑/SCAN] to turn Dual Watch mode off.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Level Meter: The LCD display shows a battery level meter with bars indicating power. A flashing battery shell icon indicates low battery, requiring replacement or recharge.
  • Low Battery Audible Alert: The radio provides an audible alert when the battery is low.
  • General Maintenance:
    • Do not charge alkaline batteries. If the radio will not be used for a long time, remove and store batteries properly.
    • Use only supplied batteries, charger, and AC adapter or approved accessories.
    • Keep the product at least 2.5 centimeters away from your body during transmission.
    • Do not keep the product receiving at high volume for a long time.
    • For vehicles with an air bag, do not place the product in the area over the air bag or in the air bag deployment area.
    • Keep the product and its accessories out of reach of children and pets.
    • Operate the product within the specified temperature range.
    • Continuous transmission for a long time may lead to heat accumulation within the product. In this case, please keep it at a proper location for cooling.
    • Handle the product with care.
    • Do not disassemble, modify or repair the product and its accessories without authorization.
  • Cleaning: Clean the battery contacts regularly. Accumulated dust on charging connectors may affect normal charging. Use a clean and dry cloth to wipe it on a regular basis.
  • Battery Storage: Store batteries in a location containing fuels, chemicals, explosive atmospheres, or other flammable or explosive materials. Do not charge batteries that are wet. Do not charge batteries suffering deformation, leakage, or overheat. Do not charge batteries with an unauthorized charger. Do not charge batteries in a location where strong radiation is present. Overcharge should always be prohibited.
  • Transportation: Damaged batteries must not be transported. To avoid short circuits, separate the battery from metal parts or from each other if two or more batteries are transported in one packaging. The radio must be switched off and secured against switch-on, if the battery is attached.
  • Disposal: The service life of products (including but not limited to radios and batteries) has ended. They shall not be disposed of as household garbage. Their recycling and disposal shall satisfy your local regulations.

FCC and RSS Warnings

The device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and ISEDC licence-exempt RSS standards. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. SAR tests are conducted using standard operating positions. For body-worn operation, the device meets RF exposure guidelines when used with a designated accessory that contains no metal. To maintain compliance, hold the transmitter and antenna at least 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) from your face and speak in a normal voice, with the antenna pointed up and away from the face. The device is authorized to operate at a duty factor not to exceed 50%. Users must be fully aware of the hazards of RF exposure and able to exercise control over their RF exposure to qualify for higher exposure limits.
