Overview

The RadioLink OSD Information Telemetry Module PRM-03 is a device designed to provide real-time model data to users, enhancing their ability to monitor and control their remote-controlled systems. This module, when used with compatible flight controllers and transmitters, displays crucial information about the model's systems directly on the transmitter screen.

Function Description:

The PRM-03 module serves as an OSD (On-Screen Display) telemetry sensor, enabling the transmission of various model parameters to the user's transmitter. It collects data from the flight controller and sends it to the receiver, which then relays it to the compatible RadioLink transmitter. This allows for real-time monitoring of flight dynamics and system status.

Key information that the PRM-03 can telemetry and display includes:

  • Speed: The current velocity of the model.
  • Rise: The vertical ascent or descent rate.
  • Throttle: The current throttle input percentage.
  • Voltage: The battery voltage of the model.
  • Longitude and Latitude: GPS coordinates indicating the model's geographical position.
  • Altitude: The model's height above ground or sea level.
  • GPS: Status of GPS signal (e.g., number of satellites, fix type).
  • RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator): A measure of the signal strength between the transmitter and receiver.
  • Flight Mode: The current operational mode of the flight controller (e.g., STABILIZE, ALT HOLD).
  • Yaw, Roll, and Pitch: The model's orientation angles.
  • Distance: The distance of the model from a reference point (e.g., home point).

One of the significant features of the PRM-03 is its ability to provide configurable sound and message alarms. These alarms signal potential problems, such as low model voltage, allowing users to take timely corrective action. The low model voltage alarm value can be customized to suit specific battery configurations and user preferences.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: PRM-03
  • Dimensions: 27mm x 13mm (1.06" x 0.51")
  • Weight: 6g (0.21oz)
  • Compatible Flight Controllers: Mini Pix, PIXHAWK, TURBO PiX, APM. This broad compatibility ensures that a wide range of users can integrate the PRM-03 into their existing setups.
  • Compatible Receivers: R12DS, R9DS. It is also compatible with older version receivers such as R10DS, R10D, and R9D.
  • Compatible Transmitters: AT10II, AT10, AT9S Pro, AT9S, AT9. For older versions of AT9 and AT10 transmitters, a firmware upgrade is required to display OSD information. Specifically, AT9 needs firmware version V1.2.6 (OSD) or later, and AT10 needs firmware version V1.0.6 (OSD) or later.
  • Battery Compatibility: The PRM-03 is compatible with batteries ranging from 1 cell to 12 cells, supporting voltages from 3.7V to 50.4V. This wide voltage range makes it suitable for various model types and power systems.

Usage Features:

The PRM-03 offers flexible connection options depending on the desired telemetry data:

  1. Battery Voltage Feedback Only: If the user only needs to monitor battery voltage, one end of the PRM-03 module connects to a compatible receiver (e.g., R9D/R9DS/R10D/R10DII/R10DS/R12DS), and the other end connects directly to the model's battery. In this configuration, it functions similarly to the RadioLink PRM-01 module. The battery voltage information will then be displayed on the "RECEIVE" menu of the transmitter.

  2. Full Telemetry Data: For comprehensive feedback including Speed, Rise, Throttle, Voltage, Longitude, Latitude, Altitude, GPS, RSSI, Flight Mode, Yaw, Roll, Pitch, and Distance, the PRM-03 connects to both the receiver and the flight controller. One end of the PRM-03 connects to the compatible receiver, and the other end connects to the TELEM port of the PIXHAWK, Mini Pix, TURBO PiX, or APM flight controller. This setup allows the flight controller to send all available flight data through the PRM-03 to the receiver and then to the transmitter.

The real-time display of these parameters on the transmitter screen, such as the AT10II/AT10/AT9S Pro/AT9S/AT9, provides pilots with critical situational awareness during flight. The ability to customize low voltage alarms adds an important safety layer, helping to prevent unexpected power loss and potential model damage.

Maintenance Features:

While the manual does not explicitly detail maintenance procedures, the requirement for firmware upgrades on older AT9 and AT10 transmitters highlights the importance of keeping transmitter firmware up-to-date to ensure full compatibility and functionality with the PRM-03. Users should regularly check the RadioLink website for the latest firmware versions for their transmitters.

The robust design, with dimensions of 27x13mm and a weight of just 6g, suggests that the module is designed to be lightweight and compact, minimizing its impact on the model's overall weight and balance. Its compatibility with a wide range of RadioLink products ensures ease of integration and use within the RadioLink ecosystem. The "CE FC ROHS" markings indicate compliance with relevant safety and environmental standards, suggesting a reliable and well-regulated product.
