10. Motor Settings
Thecarburettorisperfectlypre-adjustedfortherstrunsexworks.Arichcarburettorsettingisusedtosupplythe
motorsufcientlywithlubricationintherun-inphase.Thisisshownbystrongwhitesmokedevelopmentfromthe
exhaust.
Therichcarburettorsettingshouldbemaintainedfortherst2-3tankllings.Additionally,donotuseanylongfull-
throttle phases and run in the motor carefully with different speeds.
a) General Information on Setting the Carburettor
Dependingonmixtureused,sparkplug,muferandambientconditionslikebarometricpressureandhumidity,small
changesinthecarburettorsettingmayberequired.Thenesettingsofidleandfullthrottleareonlypossiblewiththe
engine well run in.

Important!
The carburettor is already in the best basic setting ex works. If the motor cannot be started at initial commis-
sioning,rstlookfortheproblemelsewherebeforeturningthecarburettorscrews.
Before twisting a setting screw, write down its original position. This way, you can turn it back to the previous
position if there are any problems later.
Make the settings in small steps only. This means that the respective screws must only be turned by 1/8 turn
at most before checking the settings in practice.
Never turn all 3 screws at once. This will make it impossible to successfully start the motor.
