CHAPTER 1
MARINE SANITATION DEVICES
Recreational vessels under 65' with installed toilet facilities must have
an operable marine sanitation device (MSD) on board. Vessels 65' and
under may use Type I, II, or III MSD. All installed MSD’s must be U.S.
Coast Guard certied. The sanitation devices as used are labeled to
show conformity to the regulations.
POLLUTION REGULATIONS
The Federal Water Pollution Control Act prohibits the discharge of
oil or hazardous substances which may be harmful into U. S. navigable
waters. Vessels 26' and over must display a placard at least 5" x 8", made
of durable material, xed in a conspicuous machinery space location.
You must immediately notify the U. S. Coast Guard if your vessel
discharges oil or hazardous substances in the water. Report the
following information: location, source, size, color, substances and
time observed.
