Overview

The Remington PRO-Luxe Dryer, model AC9140, is a hair styling appliance designed for efficient and effective hair drying and styling. This dryer is intended for personal use and is not suitable for commercial or salon environments.

Function Description

The primary function of the PRO-Luxe Dryer is to dry hair using a combination of heat and airflow. It offers multiple heat and speed settings, allowing users to customize their drying experience based on hair type and desired style. A cool shot function is included to help set hairstyles for longer-lasting results. The dryer comes with two main attachments: a styling concentrator and a diffuser, each serving a specific styling purpose. The styling concentrator, available in a slim 7mm size, is ideal for precise drying and smoothing, while the diffuser is designed to enhance natural curls and waves and add volume.

Usage Features

To begin using the dryer, users should first wash and condition their hair as normal, then gently squeeze out excess moisture with a towel and comb through. It's important to note that hairsprays, being flammable, should not be used while operating the product.

Attachments, such as the concentrators or diffuser, are easily fitted to the front of the hairdryer by twisting them clockwise to lock into place. Once plugged into the mains power supply, the dryer can be switched on.

The dryer features separate switches for speed and heat settings. The speed selector switch allows users to choose between low and high airflow. Similarly, the heat selector switch offers low, medium, and high heat options. This flexibility enables users to select the optimal combination for their hair and styling needs.

For fast drying, the high heat and high-speed settings are recommended. To achieve smooth styles, the styling concentrator should be used in conjunction with a round hairbrush (not included) while drying.

When aiming to enhance natural curls and waves, the diffuser attachment is used. Users can turn their head upside down and gently place their hair into the diffuser bowl, slightly rotating the dryer as they style. For adding extra volume at the roots, the diffuser should be placed against the top of the head while keeping the head upright. Gentle rotation of the hairdryer allows the diffuser fingers to massage the scalp, but care must be taken to avoid burning the scalp. For these diffuser-based styles, a medium heat/low speed setting is advised, and the diffuser should not be used on the highest heat setting.

The "Style Shot" feature is particularly useful for creating longer-lasting styles. For best results, this feature should be engaged when the hair is 70-80% dry. The style shot increases the dryer temperature, ensuring the perfect amount of heat is applied during styling. It works across all temperature and speed settings. After drying a section of hair with the concentrator, selecting the cool shot setting and running the concentrator down the hair again helps to set the style. The cool shot button can also be pressed at any time during styling to set the desired look.

After use, the appliance should be turned off and unplugged, then allowed to cool down before cleaning or storing. The integrated hang-up loop provides a convenient storage option.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for ensuring the longevity and peak performance of the Remington PRO-Luxe Dryer. Before any cleaning, the appliance must be unplugged and allowed to cool completely. Harsh or abrasive cleaning agents and solvents should be avoided.

A key maintenance task is the regular removal of dust and dirt from the air filter grille. This helps to maintain optimal airflow and motor life. To clean the rear grille, hold the dryer handle in one hand, place a thumb on the tab at the bottom of the grille with the other hand, and push upwards to flip the grille up and off the dryer. Once cleaned, the grille is replaced by hooking the top into the slot and clicking the bottom into place.

The appliance is designed with a removable easy-clean rear grille, simplifying the cleaning process.

Safety Information

The PRO-Luxe Dryer is safe for use by children aged 8 years and above, as well as persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they are supervised or instructed and understand the associated hazards. Children should not play with the appliance, and cleaning and user maintenance should only be performed by children older than 8 under supervision. The appliance and its cable must be kept out of reach of children under 8 years.

It is critical not to use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins, or other vessels containing water. When used in a bathroom, the dryer should always be unplugged after use, as the proximity of water poses a hazard even when the appliance is switched off. For added protection in bathrooms, the installation of a residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA in the electrical circuit is advisable.

If the supply cord becomes damaged, discontinue use immediately and return the appliance to an authorized Remington service dealer for repair or replacement to prevent hazards. Always ensure the voltage used matches the voltage stated on the unit. Direct airflow should be kept away from eyes or other sensitive areas.

During use, ensure that the inlet and outlet grilles are not blocked, as this will cause the unit to automatically stop. If this occurs, switch off and allow the unit to cool. The power plug and cord should be kept away from heated surfaces. The appliance should not be left unattended while plugged in, nor should it be placed on soft furnishings. Only Remington-supplied attachments should be used. Do not set the appliance down while it is still on. The cable should not be twisted, kinked, or wrapped around the appliance. If the appliance is damaged or malfunctions, it should not be used. The cord should be regularly checked for any signs of damage.
