QUICKSHIFT GEARBOX (continued)
Operating faults
While driving,ifthe“check
gearbox” message appears
accompanied by the
warning light, it indicates a system
fault. In most cases, you may still
drive the vehicle, although it will
not function perfectly. However,
you should consult a RENAULT
Dealer as soon as possible.
If you keep the vehicle on a slope for
too long without applying the
brakes or handbrake, there is a risk
that the clutch will overheat.
In this case, the “gearbox
overheating” message appears
accompanied by the
warning light; this message reminds
you that it is necessary to depress
the brake pedal or apply the
handbrake.
If your vehicle will not start:
you can start the engine when the
vehicleismovingifthebatteryis
not discharged (display lit up).
Proceed as follows:
- switch on the ignition;
- select neutral;
- push or tow the vehicle or roll it
down a big enough slope. Moving
the selector lever forwards will
engage the optimum gear for
starting the engine.
Note: never attempt this manoeuvre
in reverse.
In the event of a lever fault:
In this case alone, the paddles
replace all the lever functions.
• It is possible to engage neutral,
with the engine running, from
first or reverse gear while stopped
with the brake pedal depressed,
by pushing the right and left-hand
paddles simultaneously.
• It is possible to engage reverse
gear from neutral or while
stationary with the brake pedal
depressed and the engine
running, by pushing the left-hand
paddle.
• It is possible to engage first gear
from neutral or while stationary
with the brake pedal depressed
and the engine running, by
pushing the right-hand paddle.
Towing a vehicle with a
sequential gearbox
If the gearbox is stuck in a gear:
- switch on the ignition;
- select neutral with your foot on
the brake pedal;
- check that the gearbox is in neutral
(by pushing the vehicle, for
example).
If you cannot find neutral you must
tow the vehicle with the front
wheels raised.
The vehicle should always be
towed with the ignition switched
off.
