CHILD SAFETY (continued)
Child pack
This is a restraint function for a
child of 6 to 10 years in the rear
centre seat.
If fitted, it comprises a seat belt
adaptor 1 and a sleepsafe headrest 2
for adults and children. This allows
the seat to be adapted for restraining
achildof6to10yearswithoutthe
need for an extra, booster-type
component.
Adaptation of the rear centre seat is
approved for restraining children of
22kg(48lbs)to36kg(79lbs);this
conforms to European regulation
ECE R44-03. It is not suitable for
children under 1.10 m. Children
over 10 years or 36 kg (79 lbs) are
restrained by seat belts in the same
way as adults.
The child pack (adaptor
and headrest) is designed
solely for the rear centre
seat of this vehicle. It
must never be installed in
another seat or another vehicle.
The headrest provided in the child
pack has 3 settings:
- child 6-10 years;
-adult;
- storage setting.
In the 6-10 years setting the
headrest is designed to provide
lateral support to the neck and base
of the skull.
If the child falls asleep this system
reduces muscle fatigue in the neck
by maintaining the child's position
in relation to the seat belt.
It also protects the child's head in
the event of a rear impact.
