Overview

The Ring SmartChargePro is a range of multi-stage battery chargers designed for various battery types and capacities, offering features for safe, efficient, and prolonged battery life.

Function Description:

The SmartChargePro chargers are designed to charge and maintain lead-acid (wet), Gel, AGM, and calcium batteries with 6 cells. They automatically adjust the charge rate, stop charging when the battery is full, and resume charging as the battery naturally discharges, ensuring continuous optimal charge. The range includes models with different charging capacities and voltage outputs (12V and 24V). Some models also offer a power supply mode, providing a constant voltage for appliances or vehicle diagnostic equipment.

Charging Stages:

The SmartChargePro utilizes a multi-stage charging process to optimize battery health and performance:

  1. Desulphation: Pulse charges the battery to break down lead sulphate crystals that can form when a battery is discharged or unused.
  2. Soft Start: A slow, steady build-up of the charging process, limiting current until the battery voltage is above 12V.
  3. Bulk Charge: The main charging phase where 80% of the required charge is applied.
  4. Absorption: Charges to full capacity with a declining current to allow the battery to absorb more power.
  5. Equalisation: An additional stage for calcium batteries, designed to remove acid stratification.
  6. Battery Test: The charger conducts an automatic discharge test. If more charging is needed, the recondition function is selected. If fully charged, it enters the float stage.
  7. Recondition: An automatic charging stage to recover deeply discharged batteries.
  8. Float: Maintains the battery at 100% charge without overcharging, allowing the charger to be connected indefinitely. This is ideal for intermittently used batteries (e.g., motorcycles, caravans, boats, classic cars).
