Overview

The RoadScan Canada PBC10 is a versatile body camera designed for various recording needs, including video, audio, and still photographs, with additional functionality as a dash cam.

Function Description:

The PBC10 serves as a personal recording device, capable of capturing high-definition video, audio statements, and photographs. It features both manual and automatic infrared (IR) night vision for clear recording in low-light conditions, as well as a white LED flashlight. A laser pointer is included for pointing and aiming. The device can also function as a dash cam when mounted in a vehicle, recording video, speed, and GPS location data. It supports Wi-Fi connectivity for live streaming, remote control, and file management via a dedicated mobile application.

Usage Features:

  • Power On/Off: Hold the power button for 3 seconds. The camera displays a WELCOME/GOODBYE screen and emits a chime.
  • One-Key Recording: Long press the video record button (when off) to power on and immediately begin video recording. Long press the audio button (when off) to power on and immediately begin audio recording.
  • Video Recording: Short press the video record button to start/stop recording when the camera is on or in standby. A voice prompt "recording start" is heard, the device vibrates, and the LED light flashes red.
  • Audio Recording (Statements): Press the audio button to start/stop recording. The LED light flashes yellow.
  • Photographs: Press the photo button to take a picture. Photos can be taken during video recording. Burst mode allows snapping multiple photos at once (2, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 20 photos).
  • Highlighting Files: Press the highlight button (Star button 16) during recording to mark a segment. Highlighted video segments cannot be overwritten. A gold star symbol appears on the screen.
  • Night Vision (IR): Manual IR key: short press for night vision, long press for white light. Automatic IR activates in low light (3 Lux), turning on 4 IR LEDs and switching to black and white video. Manual IR can be activated via the Flashlight/Infrared button.
  • Flashlight (White LED): Hold the IR button for 2 seconds to turn on/off.
  • Laser Pointer: Hold the OK button for 2 seconds to activate/deactivate the red auxiliary light.
  • White Beacon: Hold the photo button for 2 seconds to turn on/off the flashing white beacon.
  • Playback: Access by pressing the OK button in standby mode. Requires a password (default '0' six times). Browse-up/down buttons navigate files and password entries. Fast forward/rewind options (X2 to X128 speed) are available during video playback.
  • Menu Access: Press the Menu button (or 'M') in standby mode. Requires a password. Allows configuration of video resolution, file size, burst mode, Wi-Fi, self-timer, quality, pre/post-record, loop record, split time, slide show, infrared mode, record warning, GPS, timezone, and language.
  • Password Protection: A password is required to access playback and menu settings. The password can be changed, but if forgotten, the device must be returned to the manufacturer for resetting.
  • Dash Cam Mode: The PBC10 can be used as a dash cam, mounted in a vehicle using a charging base and 3M Dual Lock for secure adhesion. It records video, speed, and GPS location.
  • Wi-Fi App (LinkinEyes A12 Lite): Available on iOS (currently unavailable on Android). Allows live streaming, remote control of recording/photos, brightness adjustment, camera list management, file list viewing, and image/video editing (annotations, font color, drawing). Features a speedometer and hybrid GPS view showing video, date, time, and Google Maps location.
  • File Management (Computer): Connect via USB cable. Requires password entry on the camera. Files are organized into DCIM (containing 100MEDIA for video/photo files) and GPSPlayer folders. An OPERATIONDIARY.txt file logs camera use.
  • GPS Player: The GPSPlayer folder contains player.exe (Datakam) for viewing files with satellite images.
  • Deleting Files: Files must be deleted to free up storage. Failure to do so will prevent new recordings and trigger a "card full" alarm.
  • Backing out of Screens: Use the power button.

Maintenance Features:

  • Reset Button: A small reset button is located in the HDMI port (use a paper clip) to unfreeze the unit without losing files.
  • Charging: Charge via outlet adaptor and USB cable (with or without charging base) or via 12V adaptor in a vehicle. Ensure the camera is correctly seated in the charging base and the blue light is illuminated to confirm charging.
  • Battery Care: Consistent use and charging are crucial to maintain battery capacity, as batteries are non-replaceable and not covered under warranty if they lose charge due to infrequent use.
  • Data Integrity: Always "eject" the body camera properly from the computer to prevent data corruption.
  • Firmware Updates: The manual notes that images/features are subject to change due to system and firmware upgrades.
  • Environmental Conditions: Keep the device dry, dustless, and away from direct sunlight, heat sources, harmful chemicals, and strong magnetic objects. Avoid rapid temperature/humidity changes. Do not disassemble the product.
