5.3 Cleaning program
If the coffee machine needs to be cleaned, PLEASE CLEAN appears in the display alter-
nating with the normal operating message and the service button (7) blinks.
TIP: Press the service button only when you want to start cleaning.

You can continue to brew coffee or draw hot water and steam. However, we
recommend that you run the cleaning program as soon as possible.
Caution: You may not interrupt the cleaning program.
•Press the service button (7). The display shows EMPTY trays alternating with FILL
WATER.
• Remove the drip pan (9b) and the water tank (17) and clean everything.
• Fill the tank with fresh water and replace it as well as the pan.
• The coffee machine will rinsed briefly. The display shows CLEANing TAB INto pow-
der shaft.
• Place a cleaning tablet into the drawer for coffee grounds (20) and close the cover.
The display shows press s key.
•Press the service button (7).
TIP: Place a sufficiently large receptacle (ca. 0.5 l) under the coffee outlet (8).
• The coffee machine starts with the cleaning process.
• The cleaning process runs automatically and lasts about 10 minutes. The display
shows EMPTY trays.
• Empty the drip pan (9b) and insert it again.
• Fill the water tank (17) with fresh water again if necessary.
• The coffee machine will heat up briefly and then is ready for operation.
Manual cleaning
If you want, you may start the cleaning program without a prior alarm showing:
•Press the programming button P in order to start program mode.
•Press the > button until the display shows CLEANING.
•Press the ok button. The display shows manual cleaning
•Press the ok button. The display shows EMPTY trays alternating with FILL WATER.
• Continue as above for «Remove the drip pan (9b)...»

If you start the hand cleaning program by accident, you may interrupt it by pres-
sing the on/off button (2) for ca. 2 sec.
5.4 Decalcifying
If your coffee machine must be decalcified, SYSTEM calcif. appears in the display
alternating with the normal operating message and the service button (7) blinks.
TIP: Press the service button only if you would like to start decalcifying.
