Usage Features:

The Tumbler MKR 150 / 220 is operated via a control panel that allows for recipe selection, programming, and manual control.

  • Recipe Selection / Recipe Start: Users can select existing recipes or create new ones. The interface displays recipe name, start/pause options, stop, phases, recipe editor, statistics, manual control, and information on/off.
  • Programming Recipes: This feature allows for detailed customization of processing phases. Users can insert, delete, copy, and modify phases, adjusting parameters such as phase header, time, temperature, revolutions, vacuum, degeneration, drum position, and lid position. The system supports creating new recipes and copying existing ones.
  • Manual Settings: Provides direct control over the machine's functions, including button tumbling arm, clockwise/counterclockwise rotation, button lid position, and button drum position.
  • Operation: The machine is designed for ease of use, but emphasizes strict adherence to safety instructions. The lid and drum are moved automatically. The program runs, and no person should stand within the working range of the machine (front distance at least 1.2 m over the entire machine width). If the power fails, the program will stop, and the power supply must be reinstated.
  • Safety Features:
    • Emergency Stop button: Immediately stops the machine.
    • Interlock system: Prevents operation if the lid is not properly closed or if a vacuum is not fully aerated.
    • Pressure display: Indicates if the machine can create a vacuum.
    • Visual checks: Operators must check for damages on all machine sides and accessible machine parts, especially the tumbling arm. The machine must be shut down in the event of any damages or changes.
    • Safety switch on the lid drive: To open the lid, the "Open" end position and indication must remain on the display. To close, the "Closed" end position and indication must remain on the display.
    • Power supply line: Must be regularly checked and fuse-protected with a 16A secured AC/DC sensitive ground-fault circuit interrupter (type B).
    • Personal protective equipment: Operators must wear foot protection, hand protection, protective clothing, eye protection, and light breathing masks during all life cycle phases (transport, commissioning, setup, operation, cleaning, decommissioning, care/maintenance, dismantling/disposal).

Maintenance Features:

Regular care and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the Tumbler.

  • Cleaning Instructions:
    • Preparations: To ensure optimum cleaning, some components must be removed: mixing arm, tumbling arm, stripper rubber, drum lid seal, and intake filter at the upper lid edge.
    • Cleaning Agents and Disinfectants: Only cleaning products and disinfectants approved for the food product area and suitable against contamination (e.g., protein, lime-scale) must be used. The cleaning agents and disinfectants must be prepared according to the product data sheet of the manufacturer.
    • Cleaning with High-Pressure Cleaners: Permitted only for all outside surfaces, drum, drum lid + seal, intake filter and air intake pipe, tumbling arm, mixing arm, and blind plug. The control panel must be cleaned manually and not exposed to a water jet. All other parts and surfaces may be cleaned only with normal water pressure.
    • Cleaning Procedure: Disassemble the machine, check for any parts moving with difficulty, material abrasion or other signs of wear and tear. Check hygienic condition and function of drum lid seal, lock/seat of the tumbling arm and mixing arm (or blind plug) for functioning and firm seating. Check hygienic condition of the stripper rubber on the tumbling arm. Clean air intake pipe thoroughly. Check drum positioning. Contact Rühle service if necessary. Check the drum lid holder.
  • Regular Care: Must be carried out at least once per week. This prevents malfunctions and signs of wear. Any abnormalities detected during regular care must be reported to the supervisor.
  • Regular Maintenance: Must be carried out every 2000 hours of operation but at least once per year.
    • Inspect safety devices.
    • Test run with open machine (caution: moving parts!).
    • Check air filter and air oil separator of the vacuum pump and replace if necessary.
    • Change oil of the vacuum pump.
    • Check cooling performance of the cooling unit; service if necessary, and clean condenser.
    • Check function of pressure transmitters and temperature sensors.
    • Inspect the hoses (vacuum system).
    • Check radial shaft seals for leak tightness; replace otherwise.
    • Read the error memory (frequency converter).
  • Repair and Spare Parts: Any work related to repair must be carried out only by Rühle service technicians or authorized persons. A distinction is made between regular care and maintenance and repair. The respective qualification certificate must be issued explicitly for the corresponding work. Damaged parts must always be carried out due to causes unrelated to the part, always carry out a fault diagnosis. Contact Rühle Service for spare parts or technical faults.
  • Disposal: All materials and operating fuels must be separated and disposed of in accordance with nationally applicable regulations. The machine contains a cooling system filled with the refrigerant R404A. It must be pumped off by a refrigeration installer and then disposed of correctly. The following components contain oil: lid drive, tumbling arm drive, slewing gear, vacuum pump, and compressor (cooling unit). All gears/motors except for the compressor are equipped with oil draining screws. The compressor must be drilled open for draining the oil.

The machine is designed to be robust and reliable, with a strong emphasis on user safety and proper maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity in food processing environments.
