no batteries can come in contact with other batteries
or conductive materials while in transport by protecting
exposed connectors with insulating, non-conductive caps
or tape. Do not transport batteries that are cracked or
leaking. Check with the forwarding company for further
advice.
INTENDED USE
The product is intended for edging along sidewalks,
driveway, ower beds, and similar areas.
The product is not allowed to be used for cutting or
chopping hedges, shrubs, bushes, owers and compost.
OVERLOAD PROTECTION
Ryobi 18 V lithium-ion batteries are designed with features
that protect the lithium-ion cells and maximise battery life. If
the tool stops during use, the following may be the causes:
■ The maximum current draw of the battery has been
exceeded, causing it to automatically stop powering the
tool. Release the trigger to reset the tool and pull the
trigger to resume operation.
■ Excessive temperatures will cause the battery to stop
powering the tool. Feel the battery pack; if it is too
warm, allow it to cool down.
RESIDUAL RISKS
Even with the intended use of the appliance, there is
other risk which cannot be prevented. The following list of
potential hazards should be read and understood.
■ Contact with the blade could result in serious personal

The edger wheel allows for more stable cutting performance
while edging.
DEPTH ADJUSTMENT LEVER
The depth adjustment lever allows user to control depth
of cut.
ADJUSTA BLE FRONT HANDLE
The front handle assembly can be adjusted for ease of
operation and to help prevent loss of control, and can be
positioned above or below the coupler.
HANDLE OVERMOLD
Handle overmold provides added user comfort.
LOCK-OUT
The lock-out prevents accidental starting.
ASSEMBLY
UNPACKING
This product requires assembly.
■ Carefully remove the product and any accessories from
the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing
list are included.
WARNING
Do not use this product if any parts on the Packing List
are already assembled to your product when you unpack
it. Parts on this list are not assembled to the product by
the manufacturer and require customer installation. Use
of a product that may have been improperly assembled
could result in serious personal injury.
Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage or
damage occurred during shipping.
■ Do not discard the packing material until you have
carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the
product.
