  There are several reasons why the cutting line on your Ryobi Trimmer might not advance when using the bump feed action. The line might be welded to itself, in which case you should lubricate it with silicone spray. It's also possible that there isn't enough line on the spool, so install more line. If the line is worn too short, pull it while alternately pressing down on and releasing the retaining cap. Another reason might be that the line is tangled on the spool; remove the line and rewind it. Also, make sure the engine speed isn't too slow; advance the line at full throttle. Finally, check if the line spool is installed backward, ensure the writing on the line spool is facing the correct way; THIS SIDE OUT FOR CURVED SHAFT.
