      Valerie CamposAug 9, 2025
If your Ryobi Lawn and Garden Equipment engine isn't reaching full speed and is emitting excessive smoke, the issue could be related to the oil fuel mixture, a dirty air filter, or a dirty spark arrestor screen. Use fresh fuel and the correct 2-stroke oil mix. Clean the air filter. If the problem persists, contact a servicing dealer.

If the auger attachment turns at idle on your Ryobi Lawn and Garden Equipment, the idle speed might be set too high, or the gearbox clutch may be inoperable. Turn the idle speed screw counterclockwise to reduce the idle RPM and stop the auger attachment. Contact a service dealer for adjustment and discontinue use until the repair is made, as serious personal injury may result from the auger attachment turning at idle.

Why Ryobi Lawn and Garden Equipment engine will not start?
    • J
      James GomezNov 3, 2025
The engine might not start due to several reasons: no spark, no fuel, a flooded engine, a hard-to-pull starter cord, or old fuel. To troubleshoot: Check for spark by removing the spark plug, reattaching the cap, and laying it on the metal cylinder while pulling the starter rope. If there's no spark, try a new spark plug. Ensure the primer bulb fills with fuel; if not, the fuel delivery system may be blocked, so contact a servicing dealer. If the bulb fills but the engine is flooded, remove the spark plug, point the spark plug hole towards the ground, set the choke lever to RUN, and pull the starter cord 10-15 times to clear excess fuel. Clean and reinstall the spark plug. After cleaning any spilled fuel and moving at least 9m away, pull the starter cord 3 times with the choke lever at RUN....
