Using the Shutter Priority mode
The Shutter Priority mode allows you to manually set
the shutter speed while the camera automatically
selects an appropriate aperture value.

Rotate the mode dial to S.

Rotate the dial to adjust the shutter
speed.

Set options.
For a list of options, refer to “Extended
shooting functions.”(p. 49)

Align your subject in the frame and half-
press [Shutter] to focus.

Press [Shutter] to take a photo.
Shutter speed
Shutter speed is the length of time the shutter is open.
You can enjoy many interesting effects by adjusting the
shutter speed. A low shutter speed blurs motion on the
image. You can feel the speed in the picture when the
low shutter speed is used for a shot.
A fast shutter speed is essential for capturing the
movement. A faster shutter speed froze the subject in
its movement.
