Do you have a question about the Satel APD-100 and is the answer not in the manual?
The Satel APD-100 is a wireless passive infrared (PIR) detector designed for integration into the ABAX two-way wireless system. It functions by digitally processing signals from a pyroelement, offering high interference immunity. The detector's sensitivity can be adjusted remotely via radio.
The APD-100 is primarily a movement detector, intended for indoor installation within burglary and panic alarm systems. It operates in the 868.0MHz to 868.6MHz frequency band. The device includes two tamper contacts: one that triggers when the housing is opened, and another when the detector is pulled off its mounting surface. An LED indicator is active only in TEST MODE (as detailed in the ACU-100 controller manual), signaling communication with the controller and indicating a violation of either the detector itself or its tamper contacts. Each detector has a unique 7-digit serial number located on the electronics board, which is essential for registration within the system.
Before permanent installation, it is crucial to check the signal strength received by the ACU-100 controller to ensure optimal communication. The detector can be mounted directly to a wall or using a holder provided in the delivery set. For tamper detection, it is recommended to secure the device directly to the wall, utilizing one of the screws to fix the housing tamper element. The electronics board should be removed to drill screw holes in the rear panel of the housing.
The detector's operating range should be carefully chosen to match the size of the monitored space. The space's dimension along the main direction of detector positioning should not be less than one-third of the detector's nominal range. Incorrect lens selection can lead to excessive sensitivity and false alarms.
The scale on the detector board (refer to Fig. 1 in the manual) is used to correctly align the pyroelement with the installed lens. For a 2.1m installation height, the board should be set so that the central mark aligns with the indicator on the housing. For other installation heights, the pyroelement setting should be adjusted by moving the board up (for heights above 2.1m) or down (for heights below 2.1m) relative to its central position.
The detector is powered by a CR123A 3V lithium battery, which provides approximately two years of operation. The battery should be installed just before registering the detector with the controller, as unregistered or uncommunicating detectors consume more energy, reducing battery life.
Battery replacement must be performed by qualified personnel, as incorrect replacement can pose an explosion hazard. Only CR123A 3V lithium batteries should be used. Used batteries must be disposed of according to existing environmental protection rules. During installation, extreme care must be taken not to contaminate or damage the pyroelement.
