Do you have a question about the Scheppach GP1400JET and is the answer not in the manual?
This document is an operating manual for the Scheppach GP1400JET garden pump.
The Scheppach GP1400JET is a garden pump designed for watering and irrigation of green areas, vegetable beds, and gardens. It can also be used for operating lawn sprinklers. A key feature is its integrated pre-filter, which enables the pump to draw water from various sources such as ponds, streams, rainwater barrels, rainwater cisterns, and wells. The pump is designed to handle clear water (freshwater), rainwater, or light detergent solutions/domestic water. It is not suitable for pumping flammable, gaseous, explosive, aggressive (acids, lyes, silo seepage juice), abrasive (sanding materials like sand), salt water, cleaning agents, or foodstuffs. The pump is intended for intermittent operation (S1 operating mode) and not for continuous use, such as for watercourses in garden ponds.
The pump is equipped with a transport handle (2) for easy portability. Before commissioning, the pump must be fully assembled and placed on a firm, level, and horizontal surface. It is crucial to fill the pump with water before starting to reduce priming time and prevent air from being sucked in. This can be done via the pressure connection (1) or the pre-filter screw (7). Slightly tilting the pump during filling helps to avoid air pockets. The suction line (6) should be laid in a continuously rising slope from the water source to the pump, avoiding any sections above the pump's height to prevent air bubbles that can hinder suction. Both suction and pressure lines must be attached without mechanical stress on the pump. The suction line should be submerged deep enough to prevent dry running if the water level drops. A leaking suction line will prevent proper water suction due to air ingress. Foreign bodies like sand should be avoided in the suction process. The pump is switched on and off using the on/off switch (3). Suction can take up to 5 minutes at maximum suction head. The pump inlet and outlet must be absolutely tight, requiring the use of Teflon tape or other sealing tape, regardless of the chosen connection.
Maintenance, cleaning, and adjustment work should only be performed when the mains plug is disconnected. Regular cleaning of the product with a damp cloth and mild soap is recommended after each use, avoiding cleaning products or solvents that could damage plastic parts. Water should not enter the motor. For prolonged periods of inactivity or winter storage, the pump should be thoroughly flushed with water, completely emptied, and stored dry. To empty the pump housing, the water drain plug (5) should be loosened, and the pump tilted slightly. If there is a risk of frost, the pump must be completely emptied. After long periods of storage, a brief on/off cycle should be performed to check for normal rotor rotation. In case of pump blockage, the pressure line should be connected to the water supply, the suction hose removed, and the water supply opened. Switching the pump on and off several times for about two seconds can clear most blockages. The pre-filter (8) can be cleaned by loosening the pre-filter screw (7) and rinsing it with warm water. Regular inspections and care are recommended for a long service life. Electrical connections and repairs should only be carried out by a qualified electrician. In case of repairs, the product should be sent to the service station free of oil and fuel for safety reasons. Spare parts and accessories can be ordered from the service center, providing the model designation, item number, and type plate data. The pre-filter is considered a wearing part.
