9. Troubleshooting
Problems
Probable causes
Possible solutions
Engine not
starting
Load connected to the generating set during start-up.
Disconnect the load.
Oil level too low.
Check the oil level and top up if necessary
(see § Checking the oil level).
Engine red light indicator is turned on.
Check the oil level and top up if necessary
(see § Checking the oil level).
Oil filter (fig. B - No. 5) clogged.
Replace the oil filter (see § Replacing the oil filter).
Unsuitable fuel.
Change the fuel (see § Specifications).
Fuel level too low.
Fill up with fuel (see § Filling with fuel).
Fuel tap (fig. A - No. 6) closed.
Open the fuel tap.
Fuel filter (fig. C - No. 3) clogged.
Replace the fuel filter (see § Replacing the fuel filter).
Air filter (fig. A - No. 7) clogged.
Clean the air filter (see § Cleaning the air filter).
Faulty starter battery (fig. A - No. 13).
Recharge or replace the starter battery.
Defective spark plug (fig. E - No. 2).
Check the spark plug (see § Checking the spark plug)
and replace if necessary.
Fuel supply blocked or leaking.
Have it checked, repaired or replaced.*
Engine stopped
Oil level too low.
Check the oil level and top up if necessary
