bling valve springs. Be careful when unlock-
ing valves. Components could fly away be-
cause of the strong spring preload.

LOCATE VALVE SPRING COMPRESSOR CLAMP IN
CENTER OF THE VALVE
Remove valve cotters no. 24.
Withdraw valve spring compressor, valve spring
retainer no. 25 and valve springs.

1. Valve spring retainer
2. Inner valve spring
3. Outer valve spring
Inspection
Check valve springs for rust, corrosion or other vis-
ible damages. If so, replace faulty valve springs.
Check valve springs for free length and straight-
ness.
Replace valve springs if not within specifications.
