ADVICE
PIPE SUPPORTS
Allsanitarypipeworkmustbe
supported,inaccordancewiththepipe
manufacturer’srecommendations.
Avoiddippingortrapping,whichmay
causethebuildupofresidual“solids”
andsub-sequentblockage.
BENDS
Wherepossiblelongsweepingbends
shouldbeused.Donotuseshort
elbows.Ifsweeping90°elbowsare
notavailableusetwo45°elbowsto
makea90°turn.
PIPE WORK
Allpipeworkshouldbeeithercopper,
PVCorCPVC(Donotuseflexible
pipes).Hangersshouldnotbelessthan
threefeetaparttopreventpiperattling.
DISCHARGE
Neverdischargedirectlyintoanopen
drain,fixture,manholeorrainwater
drainpipe.Itisillegalforitconstitutes
ahealthhazard.Directconnectionsinto
sanitarywastesystemsonly,shallbe
acceptable.
FREEZING
Ensureallpipeworksusceptibleto
freezingisadequatelyinsulatedor
heated.Inunheatedbuildings,the
toilet,pipingandmaceratingunitmust
beproperlywinterizedwith“RVor
plumbers”anti-freezeordrained
completely.
ELECTRICITY
Beforeattemptinganymaintenanceorservicing,theunitmust
bedisconnectedfromthepowersource.Themacerating
systemmustbeconnectedtoaGroundFaultCircuitInterrupter
(GFCI).
VERTICAL INSTALLATION FIRST
Anyinitialhorizontalpiperunfromthe
unit,priortoaverticalliftshouldnot
exceed12-18inches.
EASY ACCESS
Theunitshouldbeaccessibleandremo-
vableintheeventofmaintenancebeing
required.Duringtheinstallationafull-port
ballvalveshouldbeinstalledatthebaseof
anyverticaldischargepipeworkfromthe
unittoalloweasyserviceoftheunit.
GRAVITY FALL
Theunitacceptswastewaterbygravity;
itdoesnot“vacuum”inwater.Allinlet
pipeworkmusthaveapositivegravity
fall,(1/4”perfoot).Allhorizontalpiping
fromthemaceratingunitmustalsohave
apositivegravityfalltoallowfree
drainagewhenthepumpstops.
NO DIAGONAL “UPHILL”
PIPE RUNS
Alldischargepipeworkfromtheunit
shouldruneitherdirectlyverticalupwards
fromitorinahorizontalplane(withasmall
gravityflow)tothepointofdischarge.
Pipeworkshouldnotbeinstalledwith
diagonalupwardslopefromtheunitto
thepointofdischarge.
