The option mode menu provides settings for features like NTSC system, PIP frequency, sound modes, hotel mode, childlock, and various input/output configurations.

Maintenance Features

The service manual emphasizes the importance of maintenance and repair by qualified service personnel only. It provides critical safety information, including warnings about high voltage and X-ray radiation. Specific instructions are given for handling the picture tube and related components to prevent electric shock and X-ray exposure.

Important Service Notes:

  • Maintenance and repair should be done by qualified service personnel only.
  • Service of High Voltage System and Picture Tube: When servicing, remove static charge from the picture tube, disconnect the AC line cord, and replace the picture tube with the same type number. Handle the picture tube only when wearing shatterproof goggles and after discharging the high voltage completely.
  • X-Ray Radiation: This receiver is designed to keep X-ray radiation to an absolute minimum. Precautions should be observed when repairing circuits, especially regarding high voltage settings. Do not substitute a picture tube with unauthorized types.
  • Before Returning the Receiver: Inspect all lead dress, ensure non-metal control knobs are not lodged, and check for proper insulation and component covers.

Adjustment Precautions:

  • The model's setting is adjusted in two different ways: through the I2C bus control and the conventional analog manner.
  • Setting the service mode by the microprocessor involves pressing and holding specific key combinations on the remote controller (e.g., "VOL DOWN" & "CH UP") to enter the SERVICE MODE.
  • Factory presetting involves entering the SERVICE MODE and selecting "INIT EEPROM" to reset initial values.
  • Caution: Once the chassis has been assembled together and in ready condition, make sure it goes through initialization process.

The manual includes detailed troubleshooting flowcharts for common issues such as "NO RASTER," "NO LED LIGHT," "NO NORMAL SOUND," "NO PICTURE," and "NO SPECIFIC COLOUR." These flowcharts guide technicians through a systematic process of diagnosis and repair, checking components like the CRT connector, power circuit, sound output signal, and various ICs.

Detailed adjustment procedures are provided for RF AGC, purity, uniformity, convergence, focus, cut-off, sub-brightness, sub-contrast, horizontal/vertical deflection, NTSC chroma, and sound output. These procedures involve using specific test patterns, oscilloscopes, and multimeters to ensure proper calibration and performance of the television.

The manual also includes solid state device base diagrams, chassis layouts, block diagrams, schematic diagrams, and printed wiring board assemblies to aid in component identification and repair. A comprehensive parts guide lists all components with their part numbers, price rank, and descriptions.
