The alphabet following theLFmark shows thekindoflead-free solder.
(1) NOTE FOR THE USE OF LEAD-FREE SOLDER THREAD
When repairing a lead-free solder PWB, use lead-free solder thread.
Never use conventionallead solder thread,which maycause a breakdown or an accident.
Since the melting pointoflead-free solder thread is about 40°C higher than that ofconventionallead solder thread, the use of the
exclusive-use soldering ironisrecommendable.
(2) NOTE FOR SOLDERING WORK
Since the melting pointoflead-free solder is about 220°C, which is about 40°C higher than that ofconventionallead solder, and itssoldering
capacity is inferior to conventional one, it is apttokeep thesoldering ironinconta
ct with the PWB forlonger time. This maycause land
separation ormay exceedthe heat-resistive temperature ofcomponents. Use enough care to separate thesoldering ironfrom the PWB when
completion ofsoldering is confirmed.
Since lead-free solder inclu
des a greater quantity of tin, theiron tip maycorrodeeasily. Turn ON/OFF thesoldering ironpower frequently.
If different-kind solder remains on thesoldering iron tip, it is meltedtogether with lead-free solder. Toavoidthis, clean thesoldering iron
tip
after completion ofsoldering work.
If thesoldering iron tip is discolored black during soldering work, clean and file the tip with steel wool or a fine filer.
