    • D
      David AndersonJul 29, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Trimmer engine is not starting or is hard to start, it could be due to a couple of reasons. If the engine is hot or heat soaked, let it cool completely before attempting to restart it. Also, low fuel quality can cause starting issues. Refill the trimmer with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 89 or higher, mixed with a 2-stroke engine oil that meets or exceeds ISO-L-EGD and/or JASO FD classified oils at a 50:1 gasoline/oil ratio.

      Gloria BowersAug 7, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Trimmer engine is hard to start or doesn't start, it could be due to several reasons. The fuel strainer or fuel line might be obstructed, requiring cleaning or replacement. A fuel mixture that's too rich could also be the cause; in this case, open the choke, clean or replace the air filter, or adjust the carburetor. Also, make sure the stop switch is in the ON position. If the spark plug has an incorrect gap, is covered with carbon, fouled with fuel, or is defective, adjust the gap to 0.65mm (0.026 in.) or clean/replace the plug.
