NOTE:
Use only NGK BPM-8Y spark plug (BPMR-8Y in Canada) otherwise
severe engine damage may occur.
1. Remove spark plug (G) and check for fouling, worn and rounded
center electrode.
2. Clean the spark plug or replace with a new one. DO NOT sand
blast to clean. Remaining sand will damage engine.
3. Adjust spark plug gap (H) to 0.6 mm (0.024 inch) by bending outer
electrode (J).
4. Tighten the spark plug to 150-170 kgf • cm (130-150 lbf • in).
CAUTION!
Before removing the spark plug, clean the area around the spark
plug to prevent dirt and debris from getting into the engine’s
internal parts.
10/15-Hour Maintenance

1. Movel choke lever (A) to
(B),
Cold Start Position, to close
choke. This prevents dirt from
entering the carburetor throat
when the air lter is removed.
Brush accumulated dirt from air
lter area.
2. Loosen the air lter cover knob (C)
and remove the air lter cover (D).
Brush dirt from inside cover.
3. Replace air lter (E) if it is damaged, fuel soaked, very dirty, or the
rubber sealing edges are deformed.
4. Lightly brush debris from air lter (E). Soak heavily soiled air lter in
water/detergent solution to loosen dirt, then brush lightly.
5. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry completely before reuse.
6. Install air lter (E) in air lter case (F).
7. Install air lter cover (D) and tighten air lter cover knob (C) securely.
