How to fix a Shindaiwa T2500 Trimmer that does not start?
    • J
      juarezveronicaOct 31, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Trimmer engine won't start, first ensure the ignition switch is in the 'I' (ON) position. If it's off, move it to the 'ON' position and try restarting. Also, refill the trimmer with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 87 or higher, mixed with a 2-cycle air cooled mixing oil that meets or exceeds ISO-L-EGD and/or JASO FC classified oils at a 50:1 gasoline/oil ratio. Check the spark plug; if it's wet, there may be excess fuel in the cylinder. If the spark plug is fouled or improperly gapped, set the electrode gap to 0.024-0.028 inch (0.6-0.7 mm) and restart. If the plug is damaged or the wrong size, replace it with an NGK CMR6H or equivalent resistor type spark plug of the correct heat range. If the fuel filter or vent is clogged, replace them as needed and...

      Joe SuttonNov 14, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Trimmer has low power output, try shortening the trimmer line and cutting at a slower rate to avoid overworking the unit. Ensure you're using the correct fuel ratio by refilling with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 87 or higher, mixed with a 2-cycle air cooled mixing oil that meets or exceeds ISO-L-EGD and/or JASO FC classified oils at a 50:1 gasoline/oil ratio. Check and tighten or replace a loose or damaged spark plug. Repair or replace a filter and/or fuel line if there's air leakage or a clogged fuel line. Service the air cleaner element. If the fan, fan cover, or cylinder fins are dirty or damaged, clean, repair, or replace them as necessary. If you are using improper fuel, check the fuel octane rating and check for the presence of alcohol in the...
