Why is my Shindaiwa Trimmer engine hard to start?
- SStephen AriasAug 2, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Trimmer engine is hard to start or doesn't start at all, it could be due to several reasons. The fuel strainer or fuel line might be obstructed, in which case you should clean or replace them. It could also be due to fuel mixture being too rich, then you can open the choke, clean or replace the air filter, or adjust the carburetor. Other potential causes include the stop switch being OFF, which requires turning the switch to ON, incorrect gap, carbon-covered spark plug, a spark plug fouled with fuel, or a defective plug, then you should adjust the gap to 0.65mm (0.026 in.) or clean/replace the plug. For carburetor or electrical problems, it is best to consult your dealer.
