11.3.2 Fire systems communication problems
TCP/IP network
Troubleshoot the basic TCP/IP problems as described here above for the IEC
TCP/IP and using the Ping and the Traceroute buttons in the Tools tab of the
NK8237 node in Composer. Make sure that all the FS20/FS720 units are reachable
from NK8237.
BACnet device identifier
In the fire network, the BACnet/IP protocol is used. All control units as well as the
NK8237 have a unique Device Identifier. The BACnet Device Identifier is
automatically assigned to the NK8237 and control units and displayed in the
BACnet tab of the NK8237 node in Composer.
Check that the Device Identifier assigned by Composer for the NK8237 networks
are compatible with your BACnet configuration.
BBMD and Foreign Device configuration
Make sure that the BBMD in all subnets is configured consistently.
11.3.3 Control unit generated a fault
If a control unit generated a fault, the problem may depend on the connectivity
between one of the control units (or subsystems) and NK8237.
Check network connections
⚫ RS232
Diagnostic information about the RS232 state can be obtained from the LEDs
placed on the front panel of NK82xx. Typical problems of RS232
communication are:
– Mix of RXD/TXD lines
– Line length exceeds the maximum of 15m
– Disturbances caused by ground loops
Solve the problems of exceeding line length by using:
– RS232 line drivers
– Fiber optic converters
– RS422 converters
