11.9 Beans / chili (Beans/Chili)
The beans program Beans/Chili|34 allows you to cook
dried pulses without soaking them first. You can also save
time with the preparation of chili con carne.
Special features of this program
- If you are using dried pulses, note that the maximum
filling level for all ingredients together is the marking
1/2.
- Add sufficient water to dried pulses. They must be at
least covered. They absorb a lot of water when they
swell up.
- When you have prepared dried pulses, allow them to
cool down slowly before you open the lid. If you re-
lease the steam quickly, foam can escape and block
the valves.
Example cooking times:
11.10 Stew/soup (Stew/Soup)
The soup program Soup|47 is used for making soup, and
the stew program Stew|45 is used for making stew.
Special features of these programs
- Default setting of pressure level: High|54.
- The cooking times are halved compared to convention-
al recipes.
- For foods that swell up or produce a lot of foam (e.g.
boiling bones for meat stock), fill the pot|7 at most up
to the marking 1/2. Allow it to cool down slowly after
the program is complete.
- For all other soups and stews, you can fill the pot|7 up
to the maximum filling level max. 2/3 and use the fast
steam release.
11.11 Eggs (Egg)
The egg program Egg|36 is intended for boiling eggs.
Special features of these programs
- Default setting of pressure level: High|54.
- The number of eggs placed in the pot|7 should at most
cover the bottom.
- Fill at least 250 ml of water into the pot|7.
- Always use the fast steam release for the eggs, remove
them immediately, and cool them under cold water, so
that they do not cook longer than intended.
- The cooking times for eggs vary depending on the size
and freshness of the eggs. Very large and very fresh
eggs require a little longer. As a rule of thumb for
size|M, use:
- the default setting Normal for semi-soft eggs,
- Less for soft-boiled eggs,
- More for hard-boiled eggs.
11.12 Rice (Rice)
The rice program Rice|50 is optimal for cooking white
(husked) rice.
Special features of these programs
- Default setting of pressure level: High|54.
- What volume of liquid you add depends on the variety
of rice. See the information on the packaging.
- For the cooking time, use half of the time specified on
the packaging.
- Please note the maximum filling volume of 1/2 for the
total volume of rice and liquid.
NOTE: for cooking wild rice and brown rice, use the mul-
tigrain program Multigrain|49.
