Why Simplicity Lawn Mower engine will not turnover or start?
    • J
      Justin CohenAug 20, 2025
The Simplicity Lawn Mower engine may fail to turnover or start due to several reasons. Ensure the parking brake is engaged and the PTO (electric clutch) switch is in the OFF position. Check if the mower is out of fuel; if so, let the engine cool before refilling. If the engine is flooded, move the throttle control out of the CHOKE position. Other potential causes include a blown fuse (replace it), dirty battery terminals (clean them), a discharged or dead battery (recharge or replace), loose or broken wiring (check and repair), a faulty solenoid or starter motor, a faulty safety interlock switch, faulty spark plugs (clean, gap, or replace), or water or old gas in the fuel tank (drain and refill with fresh fuel).

What to do if Simplicity Lawn Mower engine stalls easily with mower engaged?
    • M
      michaelorrAug 22, 2025
If your Simplicity Lawn Mower engine stalls easily when the mower is engaged, the engine speed might be too slow, so set it to full throttle. Also, the ground speed may be too fast, so decrease it. If the cutting height is set too low, especially in tall grass, raise it for the first pass. Finally, ensure the discharge chute isn't jamming with cut grass by cutting with the discharge pointing toward the previously cut area.

If your Simplicity Lawn Mower engine starts hard or runs poorly, it could be due to a fuel mixture that is too rich. Try cleaning the air filter and checking the choke adjustment (throttle control). Another possible cause is a faulty, fouled, or incorrectly gapped spark plug, which should be cleaned, gapped, or replaced.
