Overview

The Membrane Solutions MSA3S Air Purifier is a durable piece of equipment designed to improve indoor air quality by filtering out impurities and particles. It features a triple-action filtration system, making it effective against a variety of airborne contaminants.

Function Description:

The MSA3S Air Purifier operates by drawing in ambient air and passing it through a multi-stage filtration process. This process includes a Primary filter, a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter, and an Activated Carbon filter. This triple-action filtration system is designed to capture particles with a diameter greater than or equal to 0.3 microns, such as dust, pollen, cigarette smoke, and pet dander. Additionally, the activated carbon component works to remove off-odors and unhealthy vapors, thereby freshening the surrounding air. The device is intended for indoor use only and is equipped with a safety switch that stops the fan and emits two beeps if the panel is opened while the purifier is running, ensuring safe operation.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: Membrane Solutions® MSA3S
  • Rated Voltage: 120 V~60 Hz
  • Rated Power: 44 Watts
  • Dimensions: 7.7 inches x 13.1 inches x 21.5 inches (195 mm x 334 mm x 545 mm)
  • Operating Weight: 13.7 lb (6.2 kg)
  • Filter Element Type: A single composite filter element (Primary, HEPA, and Activated Carbon)
  • Operating Temperature & Humidity: 32-104 °F (0-40 °C), 20-90% humidity
  • Storage Temperature & Humidity: 14-140 °F (-10-60 °C), 20-90% humidity
  • Filtration Capability: Captures particles ≥ 0.3 microns, removes odors and unhealthy vapors.

Usage Features:

The MSA3S Air Purifier offers a user-friendly control panel with several operational modes and settings:

  • Power Button: Initiates or stops the air purifier, placing it into operating or standby mode.
  • Fan Speed Control: Allows users to cycle through three different fan speed settings (Low, Medium, High) to adjust purification intensity. The current fan speed is indicated by corresponding lights.
  • Lock Function: A child lock feature that can be activated by pressing and holding the lock button for 3 seconds, illuminating the lock display. Holding it again for 3 seconds unlocks the system.
  • Sleeping Mode: Puts the unit into a quiet mode with the fan operating at its lowest setting. All indicators turn off after 3 seconds to prevent disturbance during sleep.
  • Timer Function: Enables users to set an auto-off timer for durations between 1 and 8 hours. The selected duration is indicated by illuminated lights.
  • WIFI Connectivity: Indicates the configuration status of the WIFI. The device supports the MSPure APP for additional control and information.
  • Auto Mode: Automatically adjusts the fan speed based on the detected air quality. The air quality sensor takes 30 seconds to detect air quality upon startup and primarily detects airborne particles, not gas.
    • Air Quality Indicators:
      • Green: Great air quality, low fan speed in auto mode.
      • Yellow: General air quality, medium fan speed in auto mode.
      • Red: Poor air quality, high fan speed in auto mode.
  • Polarized Plug: The appliance features a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) for safety, designed to fit into a polarized outlet in one specific orientation to reduce the risk of electric shock.

Maintenance Features:

  • Filter Replacement Indicator: The air purifier tracks its total run hours. After approximately 1700 hours of operation, an indicator light will flash, signaling that the filter needs replacement.
  • Filter Life Indicators: The control panel also provides visual cues for filter life remaining:
    • All lights illuminated: 100% filter life remaining.
    • Three lights illuminated: 75% filter life remaining.
    • Two lights illuminated: 50% filter life remaining.
    • One light illuminated (flashing): 25% filter life remaining, indicating it's time to order a new filter and replace the current one.
  • Filter Replacement Process:
    1. Turn off and unplug the air purifier.
    2. Remove the panel.
    3. Pull out the composite filter element using its handle.
    4. Clean any dust, dirt, or lint inside the purifier with a vacuum hose or dry cloth (do not use water or liquids).
    5. Remove packaging from the new filter and note the inward and outward airflow directions.
    6. Insert the new filter, ensuring the handles face outwards.
    7. Reinstall and lock the panel.
    8. Plug the power cord back in.
    9. Press and hold the reset button for 3 seconds until the unit beeps and the indicator light flashes three times, confirming the filter timer reset.
  • Cleaning: Regular cleaning of the device and removal of dust from the power plug are recommended. The unit should be unplugged before cleaning. Avoid using strong corrosive detergents or chemicals that may damage the surface. Do not wash or reuse composite filters; they must be replaced.
  • Environmental Considerations: The device should not be used in damp or wet environments. If the filter becomes damp, it should be replaced, and the air purifier moved to a dry area. It should also be kept away from flammable gas appliances.
