Adjusting
Pressure
The
pressure
dial
regulates the
pressure
that
the
presser
foot
ex-
erts
on
the
fabric
.
Correct
pressure
is
important
because
it
means
the
fabric
feeds
smoothly
and
evenly,
without
being
marred
.
Generally,
heavier
fabrics
require
a
high
num-
ber
setting
(heavier
pressure)
;
lightweight
fabrics,
a
lower
setting
(lighter
weight
pressure)
.
But
fab-
ric
texture
must
also
be considered
;
soft fabrics,
for
example,
require
less
pressure
than
crisp
fabrics
.
When
darning
without
an
embroi-
dery
hoop,
you
should
set
the
dial
at
the lowest
setting,
D
.
"

.
"
To
increase
pressure,
turn
dial
to
higher
number
.
"
To
decrease
pressure,
turn
dial
to
lower
number
.
