Foreword

Safety in Maintenance

Controls and Instruments

Throttle Control Lever

Controls engine speed and transmission engagement. Returns to idle when released.

Brake Control Lever

Applied by compression, returns to original position when released. Braking proportionate to pressure.

Ignition/Light Switch

Key-operated 2-position switch for starting and stopping engine. Lights are automatic when engine runs.

Headlamp Dimmer Switch

Allows selection of high or low headlamp beam by depressing the switch.

Emergency Cut-Out Switch

Push button to stop engine in emergency. Must be in release position to restart.

Manual Starter Handle

Auto rewind type. Pull to engage mechanism and start engine.

Primer

Push-pull button used for cold engine starts. Not necessary when engine is warm.

Speedometer

Dial linked to drive axle indicating vehicle speed and total distance travelled.

Tether Cut-Out Switch

Attaches tether cord to wrist. Pulling cap from switch shuts off engine in emergency.

Tachometer

Registers magneto impulses, indicates engine RPM in thousands. Protected by a fuse.

Temperature Gauge

Indicates engine coolant temperature. Warns of overheating and advises action.

Adjustable Steering Handle

Allows adjustment of handle position by loosening and retightening screws.

Cab Opening

Latch unhooks cab. Lift cab gently. Running engine with cab open is dangerous.

Tool Box

Located under the cab, accessed by tilting. Ideal for spare parts and tools.

Fuel Gauge

Located on the left side of the fuel tank, indicates fuel level via communicating vessels.

Break-In Period

10-Hour Inspection

Vehicle check by dealer after first 10 hours or 30 days. Owner's expense.

Fuel Mixing

Recommended Gasoline

Use regular gasoline from service stations. Avoid naphtha, methanol, or similar products.

Recommended Oil

Use concentrated Bombardier snowmobile oil or high-quality 2-cycle oil. Avoid outboard or mineral oils.

Fuel Mixture Ratio

Correct ratio is 50/1 (40/1 during break-in). Incorrect ratio causes engine damage.

Fuel Mixing Procedure

Mix gasoline and oil in a separate container. Never mix directly in the tank.

Inspect throttle, brake, skis, track, steering, coolant level, and fuel level before starting.

Carburetor Adjustment

Adjust air screw and throttle slide cut away for proper engine performance.

Drive Belt

Inspect drive belt for cracks, fraying, or abnormal wear. Replace if width is less than 3 cm.

Steering Mechanism

Inspect steering components for tightness. Check skis and runners for wear.

Drive Pulley

Inspect Duralon bushing for free-play. Contact dealer if excessive.

Brake

Brake is self-adjusting. Check lever application. Replace worn brake pucks.

Steering Adjustment

Adjust skis for a 3mm (1/8") toe out and ensure handlebar is horizontal.

Cooling System

Check coolant level and pressure. Check anti-freeze strength.

Engine Head Nuts

Check engine head nuts for tightness and torque (22 N-m).

Engine Mount Nuts

Check engine mount nuts for tightness and retighten if necessary.

Exhaust System

Check exhaust system attachments. Tighten or replace springs if needed.

General Inspection
