Track Condition
Lift the rear of the snowmobile and support it off the ground. With
the engine
off, rotate the track by hand, and inspect condition. If
worm or cut, or if track fibers are exposed, or if missing or defective
inserts or guides are noted; contact an authorized SKI-DOO dealer.
WARNING
Do not modify track, including the installation of traction en-
hancing products. At speed it may cause the track to tear and
separate from vehicle posing a risk of severe injury or death.
Do not operate or rotate a track if torn, damaged or excessive-
ly worn (exposed fibers).
Track Tension and Alignment
Tension
NOTE:
The snowmobile should be ridden in snow about 15 to 20
minutes prior to adjusting track tension.
Lift rear of snowmobile and support it with a wide-base snowmobile
mechanical stand.
Allow the suspension to extend normally and check gap 60 mm
(2-3/8 in) from rear idler wheel bracket. The gap should be as given
in SPECIFICATIONS. If the track tension is too loose, track will have
a tendency to thump.
NOTE: A belt tension tester (P/N 414 348 200) may be used to mea-
sure deflection as well as force applied.
