Overview

The SKMEI Model 1362 is a versatile digital watch designed to provide a comprehensive range of timekeeping and utility functions. Its intuitive interface, featuring four distinct keys—A (LIGHT), B (MODE), C (RESET), and D (ST/STP)—allows for easy navigation and control across its various operational modes.

Function Description

The core functionality of the SKMEI 1362 revolves around its 13-digit LCD display, which clearly shows the hour, minute, second, month, day, and week. This ensures that essential time and date information is always readily available.

Normal Time Mode: This is the default display mode, showing the current time, date, and day of the week. Users can easily switch between 12-hour (12H) and 24-hour (24H) formats by pressing the D key. The watch also features an auto-calendar, eliminating the need for manual date adjustments for different month lengths.

Alarm Mode: The watch includes a daily alarm function, which can be set to ring at a specific time each day. Additionally, it offers a snooze function, allowing the alarm to repeat every 5 minutes for a duration of 10 seconds if not manually stopped. The hourly chime feature provides an audible alert at the top of every hour, which can be toggled on or off. The alarm can be set for a specific date or as a daily alarm. When the alarm rings, "ALM" will flash on the display.

Chronograph Mode: For timing events, the SKMEI 1362 is equipped with a 1/100-second chronograph, capable of measuring up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. This mode supports standard start/stop functionality, as well as split-time measurement (midway time) and two-player timing. In split-time mode, the display changes from "ST" to "SPL" to indicate that a midway time is being held while the timer continues to run.

Dual Time Mode: This feature allows users to keep track of a second time zone simultaneously. This is particularly useful for travelers or individuals who frequently communicate across different time zones. While the seconds in dual time mode synchronize with the normal time, the hour and minute can be set independently.

Timer Mode: The watch includes a countdown timer, which can be set for a maximum duration of 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. This function is useful for various activities requiring a countdown, such as cooking, exercise, or study sessions. The timer can be started, stopped, and reset to its initial value.

Usage Features

The SKMEI 1362 is designed for straightforward operation, making its features accessible to a wide range of users.

Key Functions:

  • A (LIGHT) Key: Activates the EL backlight, illuminating the display for 1.5 seconds, making it easy to read the time in low-light conditions.
  • B (MODE) Key: Navigates through the different operational modes: Normal Time, Alarm, Chronograph, Dual Time, and Timer. Pressing B sequentially cycles through these modes.
  • C (RESET) Key: Primarily used for resetting values in various modes (e.g., zeroing the chronograph, returning to normal time mode after setting, confirming settings). It also plays a role in entering setting modes by being pressed and held for 2 seconds.
  • D (ST/STP) Key: Serves multiple purposes, including starting and stopping the chronograph and timer, adjusting flashing items during setting, and switching between 12H/24H formats in normal time mode.

Setting Procedures:

  • Normal Time Setting: To set the time, press and hold the C key for 2 seconds until the "Second" flashes. The D key can then be used to zero the seconds. Pressing the B key cycles through the setting items in the sequence: Second, Hour, Minute, Year, Month, Day. The D key adjusts the value of the flashing item. Pressing C again confirms the settings and returns to normal time mode. A unique feature allows seconds in the range of 30-59 to be reset to 00 while adding one minute, or to be reset to 00 without changing minutes if in the 00-29 range.
  • Alarm Setting: In Alarm mode, pressing and holding C for 2 seconds enters the alarm time setting. The D key adjusts the flashing character, and B selects the item (hour/minute). C confirms the setting.
  • Dual Time Setting: In Dual Time mode, pressing and holding C for 2 seconds allows setting the hour, then pressing B selects the minute. The D key adjusts the values, and C finishes the setting.
  • Timer Setting: In Timer mode, pressing and holding C for 2 seconds makes the "Hour" flash. B selects "Hour" or "Minute," and D adjusts the value. C completes the setting.

Backlight: The EL backlight ensures readability in dark environments, a practical feature for nighttime use.

Maintenance Features

The SKMEI 1362 is designed for general use and does not require extensive maintenance beyond standard watch care.

General Care:

  • Water Resistance: While not explicitly detailed in the provided text, digital watches typically have some level of water resistance. Users should refer to the watch's specific water resistance rating (usually found on the case back or in a more comprehensive manual) to understand its capabilities regarding exposure to water (e.g., splash-proof, suitable for swimming).
  • Battery Replacement: The watch operates on a CR2032 battery. The manual indicates a battery life of approximately 24 months under specific usage conditions (EL backlight 3 times a day for 1.5 seconds each, alarm for 20 seconds each day). When the display becomes dim or functions become unreliable, it's an indication that the battery may need replacement. Battery replacement should ideally be performed by a qualified technician to ensure proper sealing and function.
  • Cleaning: The watch can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and smudges from the display and case. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the watch's finish or display.
  • Environmental Considerations: The watch is designed to operate within a temperature range of -0°C to +50°C. Extreme temperatures outside this range should be avoided to prevent potential damage to the internal components or display.

The SKMEI Model 1362 is a reliable and feature-rich digital watch, offering essential timekeeping, alarm, chronograph, dual time, and timer functions, all within an easy-to-operate design. Its practical features and straightforward maintenance make it a suitable everyday timepiece.
