WARNING
LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM (L.P.)
PROPANE GAS-FIRED BOILERS
Installation location ONLY as permitted in paragraph
entitled "LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM (L.P.) PROPANE
GAS-FIRED BOILER LOCATION" on page 4 of this
instruction book.
The above warning does not apply to
NATURAL gas-
fired boilers.
The installation must conform to the requirements of
the authority having jurisdiction or, in the absence of
such requirements, to the National Fuel Gas Code,
ANSI Z223.1-latest edition. The installation must also
conform to the additional requirements in this Slant/Fin
Instruction Book.
In addition where required by the authority having juris-
diction, the installation must conform to American
Society of Mechanical Engineers Safety Code for
Controls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired
Boilers, No. CSD-1.
WARNING
This boiler, gas piping and accessories must be
installed, connected, serviced and repaired by a
trained, experienced service technician, familiar with all
precautions required for gas-fired equipment and
licensed or otherwise qualified, in compliance with the
authority having jurisdiction.
WARNING
The venting system of this boiler is under positive pres-
sure. Leakage from this system can be hazardous and if
not avoided can result in death or serious injury. In addi-
tion to the recommendations within this manual and the
User’
s Information Manual, the venting system, from the
blower to the outdoor discharge, must be carefully
checked annually by a qualified service agency.

What to do if my Slant/Fin VSPH-60 Boiler is not providing enough heat?
    • L
      Laura AlvaradoAug 17, 2025
There are several possible reasons why your boiler isn't providing enough heat. First, check if the thermostat setting is too low and set it higher. Also, the boiler water temperature might be set too low, so adjust the aquastat to a higher setting. Ensure the circulator is running by checking for power to it; if there is power but it's not running, replace it. Low boiler water level can also be a cause; carefully snap open the relief valve handle to check the water level, look for system leaks, and inspect the water pressure regulator, repairing leaks and adjusting/replacing the regulator as needed. Finally, inspect the flue and air intake piping and termination for any restrictions or obstructions.

What to do if my Slant/Fin VSPH-60 Boiler burner will not shut off?
    • B
      Brian PonceAug 25, 2025
If your boiler burner won't shut off, it could be due to a defective aquastat (high limit control). To resolve this, turn off power to the boiler, remove the red and blue wires from the aquastat terminals, and restore power. If the burners stop firing, replace the aquastat. Another possibility is that the aquastat sensor is not properly inside the aquastat well; in this case, simply insert the sensor into the well.

Why is my Slant/Fin VSPH-60 burner short cycling?
    • M
      Michael ReedAug 29, 2025
Several factors can cause short cycling. The thermostat heat anticipator might be set too low, so try resetting it. Excessive pressure drop due to excess venting or air intake system could also be the cause, requiring system correction. Check for any blockages or restrictions in the venting or air intake system and repair them. Lastly, a defective air flow switch (out of adjustment) could be the culprit, in which case you should replace it, but do not attempt to adjust it.

How to handle fumes and gas odors coming from my Slant/Fin VSPH-60?
    • D
      debraburnsSep 4, 2025
If you notice fumes and gas odors, there could be leaks in the gas piping or accessories, so locate and repair any leaks. Gas leaks in the service line or meter connections are another possibility; in this case, close the service supply valve, shut down the boiler, and notify the utility company. Also, check if the condensation trap is not full of water and fill it. Inspect the venting system for physical damage and repair as needed. Over-firing can also cause odors, so adjust the gas input to that shown on the boiler rating plate.

Why are my Slant/Fin VSPH-60 burners failing to operate and there is no heat?
    • A
      andersonmeganNov 10, 2025
Several issues could cause this. It could be due to no power because the main electric switch is open or a blown fuse, so close the switch and replace the fuse. The gas supply valve might be shut off, or the gas valve knob is in the “off” position, so open the gas supply valve and turn the gas valve knob to the “on“ position, and check gas pressure. Other potential causes include a contaminated flame sensor (clean the sensor), a pilot flame that's too low (adjust the pilot flame), an open roll-out switch (check and replace if blown), loose harness connectors (check connectors on boiler control), a defective transformer (check transformer terminals for 24V and replace if defective), a defective pressure switch (check and replace if defective), a defective high limit control (set high limit ...
