Overview

This document describes a built-in gas hob, providing comprehensive information on its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The appliance is a class 3 built-in gas hob designed for cooking food in a home environment. It features multiple gas burners with varying power outputs and is equipped with an electronic ignition device for easy lighting. The hob allows for precise flame adjustment using control knobs, enabling users to tailor heat levels to their cooking needs. It supports various types of cookware and includes safety features such as a thermocouple to prevent gas leaks if the flame goes out.

Important Technical Specifications:

The hob is factory-set for natural gas G20 at a pressure of 20 mbar, but it can be adapted for other gas types (LPG G30/31, Town gas G110) by changing burner nozzles and adjusting minimum flame settings. The manual provides detailed burner and nozzle characteristics tables for different gas types and pressures, including:

  • Rated heating capacity (kW): Ranges from 0.9 kW (UR2 int.) to 4.1 kW (UR2 ext.) for Natural Gas G20.
  • Nozzle diameter (1/100 mm): Varies by burner type and gas, e.g., 72 (AUX) to 150 (UR2 ext.) for Natural Gas G20.
  • Reduced flow rate (W): Ranges from 400 W to 1500 W depending on the burner and gas type.
  • Rated flow rate (g/h): Provided for LPG G30/31, e.g., 76 (AUX) to 298 (UR2 ext.) for G30. The electrical connection requires 220-240V~ and a 0.75 mm² cross-section for the internal conductor, with a minimum 20 mm wire length for grounding. Built-in cabinet dimensions are 878 mm (X) by 490 mm (Y), with specific clearances for installation (e.g., min 110 mm for A, min 460 mm for B). The appliance is suitable for use up to a maximum altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level.

Usage Features:

  • Burner Control: Each burner has a dedicated control knob. To light a burner, press and turn the knob anti-clockwise to the maximum flame symbol. Keep the knob pressed for a few seconds after ignition to allow the thermocouple to heat up. If the burner doesn't light within 15 seconds, return the knob to the off position and wait 60 seconds before trying again.
  • Flame Adjustment: Flame intensity can be adjusted between maximum and minimum settings by turning the knob.
  • Cookware Compatibility: The manual specifies usable cookware diameters for each burner type:
    • AUX: 12-16 cm
    • RR: 18-26 cm
    • UR2: 24-28 cm For raised pan supports, UR2 can use 28-32 cm pans, and RR can use 26-28 cm pans. All pans or griddles must be placed within the perimeter of the hob to prevent burns or damage.
  • Griddle Use: Specific precautions are provided for griddle use: it must not extend beyond the hob edge, should not cover more than one burner, can be pre-heated at maximum power for no more than 10 minutes, and requires a minimum distance of 160 mm from side/rear walls, especially on an Ultra-Rapid burner. Earthenware or steatite griddles are not recommended, and griddle use should not exceed 40 minutes.
  • Safety Devices: The hob is equipped with a safety device that trips and cuts off the gas supply in case of accidental flame extinction. To relight, return the knob to the off position and wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Energy Saving Tips: Use pans with lids and of suitable size for the burner, ensuring flames do not extend up the sides. Turn down the flame once contents boil. Pressure cookers can save time and energy for long cooking times.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Cleaning: Surfaces should be cleaned regularly after use, once they have cooled. Use specific non-abrasive, chlorine-free products. For daily cleaning, wipe with a damp cloth, rinse, and dry with a soft or microfibre cloth.
  • Weekly Cleaning: Use an ordinary glass cleaning product, following manufacturer instructions. This creates a protective, water-repellent membrane.
  • Food Stains: Light marks from aluminium pans can be cleaned with a vinegar-moistened cloth. Burnt-on residues should be removed after cooking, then rinse and dry.
  • Removable Parts: Pan support grids, flame-spreader crowns, and burner caps can be removed for cleaning. Wash them in lukewarm/hot water with non-abrasive detergent, remove encrustations, dry thoroughly, and reposition correctly. These parts should not be washed in a dishwasher.
  • Igniters and Thermocouples: Keep these perfectly clean. Check frequently and clean with a damp cloth if necessary, removing dry residues with a wooden toothpick or needle.
  • Gas Cocks: If gas cocks become difficult to turn, they may need internal cleaning and lubrication grease replacement, which should be performed by a specialised technician.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues such as the hob not working (check power, fuse, circuit breaker) or unsatisfactory cooking results (check ventilation, pan size). For persistent issues or power cable damage, contact technical support or a qualified electrician.

Safety Precautions:

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • Risk of Personal Injury: Appliance parts become very hot during use; keep children away. Use heat-resistant gloves. Never use water to extinguish fat/oil fires; turn off the appliance and smother flames with a fire blanket or lid.
  • Children: Children aged 8 and over can use the appliance under supervision and after instruction. Children must not play with the appliance and those under 8 should be kept away when it's in use. Cleaning and maintenance must not be done by unsupervised children.
  • Flame Spreader Crowns: Ensure they are correctly positioned in their housings with respective burner caps.
  • Cooking Process: Must be continuously monitored, especially short processes and cooking with fat/oil, as overheating can cause fire.
  • Flammable Materials: Do not use or store flammable materials near or directly underneath the hob. Do not use aerosols near the appliance while in use.
  • Metal Objects: Do not place metal objects (dishes, cutlery) on the hob surface during cooking as they may overheat.
  • Closed Containers: Do not cook foods in closed tins, containers, or plastic containers.
  • Power Supply: Switch off the appliance immediately after use. Disconnect power before any work on the appliance. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by technical support.
  • Ventilation: Ensure good ventilation in the room where the appliance is installed, especially during use, to eliminate heat, humidity, and combustion products.
  • Appliance Modification/Repair: Do not modify the appliance or attempt repairs without a qualified technician.
  • PPE: Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when carrying out installation, maintenance, positioning, or moving.
  • Gas Leaks: If gas is smelled, immediately turn off the gas supply, extinguish all naked flames, do not operate electrical switches or phones, open windows, and call customer assistance.
  • Installation: Must be performed by a qualified technician according to regulations. Gas connection hoses must not be pinched or come into contact with moving parts. Check for gas leaks with soapy solution, never a flame. Ensure the carcase has required openings and is heat resistant. The appliance must be earthed. Use cables that withstand at least 90°C.
  • Power Cable Routing: Run the power cable in the rear part of the unit, ensuring it doesn't contact the hob's lower part or a built-in oven.
  • Overvoltage Protection: Fit the power line with an all-pole circuit breaker for complete disconnection in category III overvoltage conditions.
  • Built-in Oven: If installed above an oven, the oven must have a cooling fan.
  • Double-Layer Wooden Base: If other furniture is under the hob, a double-layer wooden base (at least 20 mm from the hob bottom) must be installed to prevent accidental contact with sharp or hot parts.
