Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive user manual for an induction cooking hob, outlining its functions, usage, maintenance, and installation procedures. It emphasizes safety, proper operation, and care to ensure the appliance's aesthetic and functional longevity.

Function Description

The induction hob is designed for cooking food in a home environment. It operates by generating an electromagnetic field under its glass-ceramic surface, which induces a thermal current directly in the base of suitable cookware. This method ensures efficient energy transfer directly to the pan, rather than heating the hob surface itself, leading to faster cooking times and improved safety. Each cooking zone has an independent induction generator.

The hob features multiple cooking zones, with specific outer and inner diameters, and varying maximum power absorption capabilities, including a "Power function" for boosted heating. The control interface consists of Touch Control sensor keys located on the front panel, allowing users to turn the hob on/off, adjust power levels, and set timers with a light touch. A beep confirms each effective touch.

Usage Features

  • Power Control: Users can adjust the power level for each cooking zone from 1 to 9, with a "P" setting for maximum power (Power function). The Power function is available for a limited time (e.g., 5 minutes on certain zones) before automatically reducing to level 9.
  • Quick Selection: This feature allows for rapidly setting cooking zones to maximum power (level 9) with a single press.
  • Automatic Switch-off Timer: Each cooking zone can be programmed to automatically switch off after a set period (1 to 99 minutes). A dot lights up under the corresponding cooking zone to indicate it's being timed. The timer can be modified or deactivated during the countdown.
  • Minute Minder Timer: A separate minute minder timer can be set (1 to 99 minutes) to alert the user with a beep at the end of the pre-set time. This timer does not switch off the cooking zones but serves as a notification. It can be activated whether cooking zones are on or off.
  • Control Lock: The hob features a control lock to prevent accidental changes to settings, particularly useful when children or pets are present. The controls are locked by pressing specific keys simultaneously and unlocked in a similar manner. The lock remains active even after a power failure.
  • Residual Heat Indicator: After a cooking zone is switched off, a symbol (H) will be displayed if the surface is still hot, clearing once the temperature drops below 40°C. This is a crucial safety feature.
  • Cookware Suitability: The hob requires cookware made of metal with magnetic properties and a sufficiently large, flat base. Suitable materials include enamelled steel, cast iron, and multilayer stainless steel with a special base. Unsuitable materials include copper, non-magnetic stainless steel, aluminium, glass, wood, ceramic, and terracotta. An indicator symbol appears if an unsuitable pan is detected.
  • Energy Saving Advice: Recommendations include using pans with a base diameter matching the cooking zone, checking pan base diameters when purchasing, using pressure cookers for long cooking times, ensuring pressure cookers contain sufficient liquid, covering pans with lids, and choosing pan sizes appropriate for the food quantity.
  • Power Limit: The appliance is configured to work within a maximum power limit (e.g., 3 kW), with the electronic board automatically managing the number of active cooking zones and their selectable power levels to prevent exceeding this limit.
  • Overheating Protection: If the hob is used at full power for extended periods, especially in high room temperatures, the electronics may reduce power automatically to prevent overheating.
  • Cooking Guidelines: A table provides guidance on appropriate power levels for various cooking tasks, from reheating and simmering to roasting and deep-frying.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Cleaning: Surfaces should be cleaned regularly after use, once they have cooled down. An ordinary glass cleaning product is recommended weekly, following the manufacturer's instructions. The silicon in these products creates a protective, water-repellent membrane that resists dirt. After cleaning, the surface should be dried thoroughly with a clean cloth, ensuring no detergent residue remains, as it could cause corrosive reactions when heated.
  • Stain Removal: Smudges from aluminium-based pans can be cleaned with a vinegar-dampened cloth. Burnt residues should be removed after cooking, rinsed with water, and dried. Any dirt that falls on the hob (e.g., from lettuce or potatoes) should be removed immediately to prevent scratching when moving pans.
  • Addressing Colour Changes: Changes in colour on the hob surface do not affect its operation or stability; they are typically residues that have carbonized.
  • Shiny Surfaces: Shiny surfaces can form due to pan bases (especially aluminium) rubbing on the surface or the use of unsuitable detergents. These may be difficult to remove with conventional cleaning products and might require repeated cleaning. Corrosive detergents or rubbing can also wear away the hob's decoration over time.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance on what to do if the hob does not work (checking connections, power supply, fuses, circuit breakers), if cooking results are unsatisfactory (adjusting temperature), if the hob smokes (cooling and cleaning, checking for spills), or if fuses blow/circuit breakers trip repeatedly (contacting technical support). In case of cracks or fissures, the appliance should be immediately turned off, disconnected from power, and technical support contacted.
  • Prohibited Cleaning Methods: Steam jets, abrasive or corrosive detergents (scouring powders, stain removers, metallic sponges) on glass parts, and cleaning products containing chlorine, ammonia, or bleach on steel or metallic finishes are explicitly prohibited to prevent damage. Wooden or plastic utensils are recommended for cleaning.
  • Sensor Key Care: Sensor keys must be kept clean at all times, and no objects should be rested on them.
