Section II- OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE
The engine on the Rear Engine Rider is equipped with
a flywheel alternator to maintain battery charge when
engine is run frequently.
C. ENGINE (MANUAL START)
1. First follow steps 1 through 5 in ENGINE
(ELECTRIC START).
2. Turn key to "RUN" position. Refer to Figure 2.11.
3. Pull starter rope with a smooth, even motion
until engine starts. Always guide the starter
rope back into the recoil housing. Never allow
rope to snap back. After engine starts, move
engine speed control to the "FAST" position.
4. Allow a brief warmup until engine runs smoothly.
D. MOWER BLADE
1. With engine running, move engine speed control
to the "FAST" position.
2. Raise and move blade lever to "ON" position
and depress blade pedals. See Figure 2.12.
(a) Release the lift lever latch by pulling it up to
the lift lever.
(b) Raise or lower the deck to the desired
cutting height.
(c) Release the lift lever latch to lock deck into
position. Refer to Figure 2.13.
F. WHEEL DRIVE
1. With engine running, adjust engine speed con¬
trol to the "FAST" position.
2. Depress ciutch/brake pedal.
3. Place transmission shift lever in "FIRST" (1)
fonvard speed.
4. Slowly release clutch/brake pedal to start for¬
ward motion.
5. During forward motion, the transmission shift
lever may be placed in any desired forward
speed without depressing the clutch/brake
pedai.

E. CUTTING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
1. Adjust cutting height as desired to any one of six
positions using deck iift lever. See Figure 2.13.
