BATTERY
The
battery
for
electric
start
models
is
shipped
dry.
It
should
be
activated
and
charged
accord¬
ing
to
the
instructions
enclosed
with
the
battery.
(See
line
3
below
for
charging
battery).

REMOVAL
(a)
R
emove
battery
cover
by
pulling
each
side
away
from
ratchet
fasteners.
See
Figure
9.
(b)
R
emove
battery
from
battery
box

ATTERY
ACTIVATION
NOTE
:
For
safety
reasons
the
electrolyte
(acid)
for
the
battery
is
not
supplied
with
the
rider.
Therefore
the
electrolyte
must
be
purchased
separately
from
your
local
dealer
or
retailer.
(a)
Place
battery
in
a
well
ventilated
area
on
a
level
surface.
(b)
Remove
battery
cell
caps.
Fill
cells
as
required
with
electrolyte
to
between
minimum
and
maximum
fill
line
as
viewed
from
outside
battery
case.
Filling
battery
with
electrolyte
will
bring
the
battery
to
80%
charged
state.
NOTE:
3/16”
above
cell
plates
is
the
recommend¬
ed
level.
However,
do
not
try
to
measure
this
dimension.
Never
place
anything
in
battery
other
than
specified
electrolyte.
CAUTION:
DO
NOT
OVERFILLI
WARNING
THE
ELECTROLYTE
(ACID)
PRODUCES
A
HIGHLY
EXPLOSIVE
GAS.
KEEP
ALL
SPARKS,
FLAME
AND
FIRE
AWAY
FROM
AREA
WHEN
CHARGING
BATTERY
OR
WHEN
HANDLING
ELECTROLYTE
OR
BATTERY.
ELECTROLYTE
(ACID)
IS
A
HIGHLY
CORROSIVE
LIQUID.
WEAR
EYE
PROTECTION.
IN
CASE
OF
EYE
OR
SKIN
CONTACT
WITH
ELECTROLYTE
(ACID),
WASH
ALL
AFFECTED
AREAS
OF
THE
BODY
IMMEDIATELY.
3.
BATTERY
CHARGING
(a)
With
all
cell
caps
removed,
connect
an
auto¬
motive
type
battery
charger
to
battery
treminals;
RED
to
positive
(+)
and
BLACK
to
negative
(-)
terminal.
(b)
Slow
charge
at
2
to
6
amps
for
30
minutes.
(c)
After
charging,
check
level
of
electrolyte,
add
electrolyte
if
necessary,
and
tighten
cell
caps.

BATTERY
INSTALLATION
(a)
Slide
battery
partially
into
box,
with
positive
end
to
inside
and
terminals
to
rear,
to
allow
for
cable
installations.
(b)
Battery
cables
MUST
BE
SECURED
TO
BAT¬
TERY
TERMINALS
as
shown
in
Figure
10,
using
the
1/4”
screws
and
lock-nuts
from
the
hard'
ware
bag.
(c)
Place
the
positive
(+)
terminal
insulator
over
positive
terminal
and
cable.

to
Figure
10.

Slide
battery
into
battery
box
and
reinstall
battery
cover.

CHUTE
DEFLECTOR
The
chute
deflector
is
shipped
in
the
“UP”
position.
Remove
rubber
band,
lower
chute
deflector
and
secure
to
deck
with
carriage
bolt(s),
flat
washer(s)
and
wing-
nut(s)
furnished
in
the
deck.
