SOLIRIS Uno is a wind and sun automatic control system for an AC motor.
The wind speed and amount of sunshine are measured by a combined sensor.
A rain sensor can also be connected.
When the sun shines, the awning/blind is activated automatically, either fully or to an indi-
vidually programmed intermediate position.
A dynamic retraction delay avoids frequent activation commands caused by varying light
conditions. Manual operation is also possible and the sun function can be switched off.
If the wind is too strong the awning/blind is automatically retracted and manual operation
is blocked. The wind function is a safety function and is always activated.

Overview

The SOLIRIS Uno is an automatic control system designed for AC motors, specifically for operating awnings and blinds. It integrates wind and sun detection capabilities through a combined sensor, with an optional rain sensor for enhanced functionality.

Function Description

The primary function of the SOLIRIS Uno is to provide automated control of awnings and blinds based on environmental conditions. When sunlight is detected, the system automatically activates the awning/blind, either fully or to a user-programmed intermediate position. A dynamic retraction delay is incorporated to prevent frequent activations due to fluctuating light conditions, ensuring smoother operation. Manual control is always available, and the sun function can be manually switched off if desired.

Safety is a key aspect of the SOLIRIS Uno. In the event of strong winds, the awning/blind is automatically retracted, and manual operation is temporarily blocked. This wind function is a safety feature and remains active at all times. If a rain sensor is connected, the blind/awning will automatically retract upon detecting rain, and all manual and sun control commands will be inhibited until the rain stops.

The system offers different operating modes:

  • Awning mode: This is the default factory setting. Each brief press of the UP or DOWN button constitutes a move command.
  • Venetian blind mode "EU": Brief presses of the UP or DOWN buttons result in short move commands, while holding them down for a longer period initiates a longer move command. Slat tilting can be programmed in this mode.
  • Venetian blind mode "US": Brief presses of the UP or DOWN buttons result in long move commands without an automatic stop, while holding them down for a longer period initiates a short move command. Slat tilting can also be programmed in this mode.

The SOLIRIS Uno also supports a "Demo setting" mode, which shortens the reaction times of the control functions for demonstration purposes. In this mode, the maximum movement time from the highest to the lowest end position is approximately 30 seconds.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Supply: 220 – 240V ~ 50/60Hz
  • Degree of protection: IP 40
  • Class: II
  • Operating temperature: +5°C to +40°C
  • Environmental conditions: Dry living areas
  • Relay contacts load: cos φ > 0.8 / 3A / 230V / 50Hz
  • Mounting: Suitable for mounting in a 60 mm Ø concealed connection box or a suitable Somfy surface mounting cap.
  • Wind speed setting range: 5-80 km/h (Factory setting: approx. 20 km/h)
  • Brightness setting range: 20-60 kLux (Factory setting: approx. 35 kLux)

Usage Features

The SOLIRIS Uno provides several user-friendly features for customization and control:

  • Sun control ON/OFF switch: Allows users to enable or disable the automatic sun function.
  • Potentiometers for threshold values: Dedicated potentiometers enable precise adjustment of wind speed (5-80 km/h) and brightness (20-60 kLux) thresholds, allowing users to tailor the system's response to their specific environment.
  • LED indicators: Red and yellow LEDs provide visual feedback on the system's status, indicating sun detection, wind detection, and programming modes.
  • Intermediate position programming: Users can program a freely selectable intermediate position for the awning/blind, which can be reached automatically or manually. This feature allows for customized shading or ventilation.
  • Slat tilting operation (Venetian blind modes): In Venetian blind modes, users can program a slat tilting operation, enabling precise control over light entry and privacy. This feature requires an intermediate position to be programmed first.
  • Dynamic retraction delay: This feature, active in sun control operation, varies the retraction delay (between 30 and 15 minutes) based on the duration of sun presence, preventing frequent movements on cloudy days. If daylight falls below 12 kLux, the retraction time is further reduced to approximately 5 minutes for quicker retraction at twilight.
  • Manual override: Manual operation is always possible unless the wind function is active, ensuring user control when needed.
  • Programming modes: The device offers various programming modes for awning, Venetian blind "EU," and Venetian blind "US" operations, allowing users to configure the system to suit their specific type of blind or awning.

Maintenance Features

While the manual does not explicitly detail maintenance features, it emphasizes the importance of professional installation and proper power supply for guaranteed correct operation.

  • Installation: The device is designed for easy installation into standard connection boxes, with clear instructions for wiring and assembly.
  • Testing: A test function is available to check the motor's direction after power connection, using the UP and DOWN buttons.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual implies that setting up, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting should be carried out by a trained electrician, highlighting the need for professional expertise in case of issues.
  • Cancellation of programmed settings: Users can cancel programmed intermediate positions and slat tilting operations, allowing for easy reconfiguration if needed.

The SOLIRIS Uno is a robust and versatile control unit that enhances comfort and safety by automating awning and blind operations based on real-time environmental data. Its customizable settings and multiple operating modes make it adaptable to various user preferences and blind types.
