Important information
Radio frequency (RF) exposure and
SAR
Your mobile phone is a low-power radio tra
nsmitter
and receiver. When it is turned on, it emits lo
w
levels of radio frequency energy (also kno
wn as
radio waves or radio frequency fields).
Governments around the world have adop
ted
comprehensive international safety guid
elines,
developed by scientific or
ganizations, e.g. ICNIRP
(International Commission on Non-Ionizing
Radiation Protection) and IEEE (The Instit
ute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.), th
rough
periodic and thorough evaluation of scien
tific
studies. These guidelines
establish permitted levels
of radio wave exposure for the general po
pulation.
The levels include a safety margin designed
to
assure the safety of all
persons, regardless of age
and health, and to account for any vari
ations in
measurements.
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is the un
it of
measurement for the amount of radio freq
uency
energy absorbed by the body when using
a mobile
phone. The SAR value is determined at
the highest
certified power level in la
boratory conditions, but
the actual SAR level of the mobile phone w
hile
operating can be well below this value. Th
is is
because the mobile phone is designed to u
se the
minimum power required to reach the ne
twork.
Variations in SAR below the radio frequen
cy
exposure guidelines do not mean that th
ere are
variations in safety. While there may be
differences
in SAR levels among mobile phones, all So
ny
Ericsson mobile phone models are design
ed to
meet radio frequency exposure guidelin
es.
SAR data information for residents in co
untries/
regions that have adopted the SAR limi
t
recommended by the International Comm
ission of
Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIR
P), which
is 2 W/kg averaged over ten (10) gram
of tissue (for
example European Union, Japan, Brazil an
d New
Zealand):
The highest SAR value for this model phone te
sted by
Sony Ericsson for use at the ear is 0.6
4 W/kg (10g).
