Overview

The MCM-2250NB OLED Monitor is a high-precision display designed for professional use, offering excellent picture quality and a range of adjustable settings to suit various operational needs. This monitor is intended for users who require accurate color reproduction and detailed image display in their work.

Function Description

The MCM-2250NB functions as an OLED monitor, utilizing organic light-emitting diode technology to deliver vibrant colors and deep blacks. It supports HDMI input for both video and audio signals, ensuring high-quality digital picture and sound. The monitor is compatible with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) for secure transmission of copyrighted content. It is designed to be mounted on an arm, providing flexibility in installation. The unit also features USB connectivity for connecting peripheral devices and remote control.

Usage Features

The monitor offers a comprehensive on-screen menu system for making various adjustments and settings, including picture control, input settings, and system configurations.

  • Menu Navigation: The menu is accessed via dedicated buttons on the front/side panel. A long press of the MENU button displays the main menu, while a short press brings up the [Contrast]/[Brightness] adjustment screen. Navigation through the menu is intuitive, using up/down buttons to select items and an ENTER button to confirm. A BACK button allows users to revert to previous values or screens.
  • Picture Adjustments: Users can fine-tune several picture parameters:
    • Contrast: Adjusts the difference between light and dark areas of the image.
    • Brightness: Controls the overall luminance of the picture.
    • Chroma: Modifies the color intensity, making colors denser or lighter.
    • Sharpness H/V: Enhances horizontal and vertical sharpness for a crisper image.
    • Color Temp: Allows selection of various color temperatures (e.g., D65, D75, D93, D110, D130, User1-User5) to match specific viewing environments or standards. The monitor also includes a [CRT Color Temp] setting to adjust color appearance to match CRT monitors, compensating for optical spectrum differences between display technologies.
    • Manual Adjustment (Gain/Bias): When a User Color Temp is selected, users can manually adjust the R, G, and B gain and bias to fine-tune color balance.
    • Copy From: This feature allows users to copy white balance data from a selected color temperature to a User setting.
    • Color Space: Users can choose from [ITU-709], [Native1], or [Native2] color spaces. [Native1] restores the original color reproduction of the OLED panel.
    • Gamma: Selects the appropriate gamma mode (e.g., 2.2, 2.4, DICOM) to optimize image detail, especially in shaded areas.
    • RGB Range: Sets the black and white levels for HDMI input, with options for [Auto], [Limited] (16-235), and [Full] (0-255).
    • Dot by Dot Mode: Controls the scan size of the picture. [On] displays original video signal pixels, potentially showing bars if the input format differs from the panel resolution. [Off] scales vertical pixels to 1080 and horizontal pixels to the appropriate aspect ratio.
    • Flicker Free: Setting this to [On] reduces flickering that can occur with OLED panels, providing smoother images, though quick-moving images might exhibit contours or afterimages.
  • User Presets: The monitor allows users to save and load multiple custom settings as User Presets (User Preset1 to User Preset8). This is useful for quickly switching between different configurations tailored for specific tasks or viewing conditions. Users can also view the status of each preset.
  • System Settings:
    • Control Lock: This feature protects settings from unauthorized changes. Options include [Off], [All] (locks all items), and [Partial] (locks all items except Contrast, Brightness, and Control Lock). A key lock icon appears on the screen when [All] or [Partial] is active.
    • Status Display: Controls whether the input signal format and control lock status are displayed. [Auto] shows them for about three seconds when a signal starts, while [Off] hides them.
    • Language: Allows selection of the menu and message language from English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese.
  • Cable Management: A supplied binding band helps organize connected cables, preventing clutter and ensuring a tidy setup.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the MCM-2250NB monitor.

  • Screen Handling: The OLED panel has a special coating to reduce reflection and is vulnerable to damage. Users should avoid pushing, scratching, or placing heavy objects on the screen, as this can cause loss of uniformity. Direct sunlight should also be avoided, as it can damage the screen.
  • Cleaning the Screen:
    • Disconnect the DC power cable before cleaning.
    • Wipe the screen gently with a clean, soft, dry cloth to remove dirt.
    • For stubborn stains, use a cleaning cloth or soft cloth slightly dampened with a mild detergent solution, followed by a wipe with a 50-70 v/v% concentration of isopropyl alcohol or a 76.9-81.4 v/v% concentration of ethanol.
    • Avoid using strong solvents (benzene, thinner, acidic/alkaline detergents, abrasives, or chemical wipes) as they can damage the screen.
    • Use a blower to remove dust.
    • Do not attach adhesive objects (stickers) to the screen.
  • Burn-in Prevention: Due to the characteristics of OLED technology, displaying static images for extended periods or using the unit in high temperature/humidity environments can cause permanent burn-in, image smearing, or a decrease in brightness. To mitigate this:
    • Turn off character displays (like menus or settings) when not needed.
    • Turn off the monitor when not in use for prolonged periods.
    • Avoid displaying images smaller than the monitor screen for extended durations.
    • Reduce brightness slightly when possible.
  • Dew Condensation: If the unit is moved from a cold to a warm environment, or if ambient temperature rises suddenly, condensation may form. In such cases, turn off the unit and wait for the condensation to clear before operating to prevent damage.
  • Repacking: Retain the original carton and packing materials, as they serve as ideal containers for transporting the unit.
  • Disposal: The monitor should not be disposed of with general household waste. Users must follow local laws and regulations for electronic waste disposal.

The MCM-2250NB is designed for reliable operation, but users are advised to contact qualified service personnel if issues arise that cannot be resolved through basic troubleshooting, such as persistent error messages or the unit turning off due to internal temperature increases. Regular checks for loose attaching screws are also recommended to prevent accidents.
