      If the remote commander for your Sony DVD VCR Combo is not working, ensure you are pointing it at the remote sensor on the DVD-VCR. If that doesn't work, replace all the batteries in the remote commander with new ones if they are weak. Also, ensure the TV / DVD·VIDEO switch is set correctly and that you've selected the correct VIDEO or DVD with the SELECT DVD/ VIDEO button.

      If your Sony DVD VCR Combo disc does not play, make sure the disc is inserted with the playback side facing down on the disc tray and that the disc is not skewed. Ensure the TV / DVD·VIDEO switch is set correctly. For other issues, refer to page 6 for information about discs that the player can or cannot play; page 3 for moisture condensation issues; and page 7 for CD-Rs, CD-RWs, or DVD-Rs that are not finalized.

      If there is no sound from your Sony DVD VCR Combo, first, check that the connecting cord is securely re-connected. If the connecting cord is damaged, it may need to be replaced. If the audio signal does not come through the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL or COAXIAL) jack, check the audio settings (page 52).

Also, make sure the safety tab has not been removed, the tape is not at its end, a program has been set for timer recording, and your timer settings are past the current time. Ensure the cable box is turned on. If the DVD-VCR is disconnected from the wall outlet for more than one minute, reset the clock and timer. You may also try turning the power off and unplugging the AC power cord.
