  If there is no sound or a very low-level sound regardless of the selected component on your Sony Stereo Receiver, verify that the speakers and components are securely and correctly connected. Ensure both the receiver and all components are powered on, and the MASTER VOLUME isn't set to VOLUME MIN. Also, check the SPEAKERS A/B button to ensure it's correctly set for your SPEAKERS FRONT system. Press MUTING to disable the muting function, and ensure headphones are disconnected. If 'PROTECT' flashes, it indicates a short circuit; turn off the receiver, resolve the short-circuit, and then turn it back on.

Verify the remote's mode matches the receiver's. If the batteries are weak, replace them. Also, make sure you've selected the correct function on the remote. Note that the AUX, SOURCE, MPX/DUAL, 12 and ON SCREEN buttons on the remote are not available. Press MAIN MENU on the remote before you use the V/v/B/b buttons for receiver operation.
