Calibration
1.
With
the
POWER
switch
set
to
OFF,
turn
the
temperature
meter adjusting screw
(using a
screwdriver)
until
the
pointer
reads
-20°C
(see
figure
8-7).
2.
Set the
POWER
switch
to
ON.
and
open
the
centrifuge lid. Remove
the
rotor
If
necessary.
3.
Set
the
POWER
switch to
OFF.
and
unplug
the
centrifuge
power
cord.
4.
Carefully loosen
the
temperature
sensor
located
on
the bottom of
the
rotor
chamber (to
the
right
of the
gyro
assembly).
5.
Prepare
an Ice
and
water
bath (2/3
ice,
1/3
water).
Immerse
the
temperature
sensor
in
the
ice
and
water
bath
and
agitate
it
to
cool
completely.
Check
the
ice
and water
bath with
a
thermometer to
ensure
that
the
temperature
has
stablized
at
0°C.
6.
Remove
the
door release knob
by
loosening
the
set
screw.
7.
Remove
the
screw,
located
above
the
TIME
control
knob,
that
secures
the front
panel
to
the
frame.
Gently
lower
the front
panel.
8.
Connect
a
digital voltmeter
to
TP-4
(+)
and reference
TP-2
(-)
on
the
Temperature
Control
P.C.
Board.
9.
Plug
in
the
centrifuge
power cord,
and
set
the
POWER
switch to
ON.
10. Turn
the
temperature
potentiometer,
located
on
the front
panel,
until the
voltmeter reads
approximately
0.0005
Vdc.
11.
Set the
TEMP
control
knob
to the
-20
setting.
12. Verify
that
the
digital voltmeter
reads
0.0005
Vdc ± 0.0002
Vdc
at
the
-20
setting.
13.
Set
the TEMP
control knob
to
the +40
setting,
then
adjust
R12
to
obtain 3.00
Vdc.
14.
Set the
TEMP
control knob
to
the +20
setting,
verify
that
the
voltmeter reads
approximately
2.00 Vdc.
Then,
set
the
TEMP
control
knob
to
the 0
setting,
verify
that the
voltmeter reads
approximately
1.00
Vdc.
15.
Connect
the
digital voltmeter
to
TP-3
(+)
and
ground
TP-2
(-)
on
the
Temperature
Control
P.
C.
Board.
16.
Set
the TEMP
control knob
to
+40
setting.
17. Adjust
R9
to obtain 1.000
±0.005
Vdc.
The
temperature meter
should
read
0°C.
If
the
temperature meter
has
a
reading
other than
0°C,
adjust
Rl
1.
