Replace
the foam
Insulating
ring
and
gyro
seal
(boot).
Be
sure
the
cut
out section
of
the
gyro
seal
aligns
with the
imbalance
bracket.

Slide the
plastic
cap
back down
onto
the
gyro
assembly.

Pulley
Replacement
1.
Remove
the
gyro
assembly
(paragraph
5-25).
NOTE
Check the
pulley
on
the
gyro
assembly.
If
it
is double-grooved
(see
figure
5-8),
we
recommend
you
order
Belt
and Pulley Replacement
Kit, Cat, No.
07 7
28,
to
upgrade
the
gyro
and
motor
to
the
current single-grooved
pulley
configuration.
The double
grooved pulley
and drive
belt
are
obsolete and
no longer
available.
2.
The
single-grooved
pulley
may
be secured
by
either
a
Trantorque®
keyless
machine
mount
or
two
set screws
depending
on
your
centrifuge
serial
number.
If
the
pulley
is
secured
with
a
Trantorque®
mount:
a.
Securely
tighten
an
adjustable wrench onto
the flats of
the
gyro
shaft
(above
the
plastic
cap)
to
keep
It from
turning.
Then
place a
5/8
inch
open-end
wrench onto
the flats
of the Trantorque®
mount.
Turn
the
wrench to
release
the
mount.
b.
Remove
the Trantorque®
mount
and
pulley.
If
the
pulley
is secured
with
set screws:
a.
Remove
the
set screws
using a
5/64
inch
Alien
wrench.
There
may
be four
set
screws (two
in each
hole)
securing
the
pulley
to
the
gyro
shaft.
NOTE
If
the
set screws can
not
be
removed
using an
Alien
wrench,
use a
heat
gun
(or
propane
torch) to
heat
the
pulley
and
loosen
the
adhesive
securing
the
set screws
in
place.
b.
Remove
the
pulley
and set
screws.
To
replace
the
gyro
pulley:
1.
Install the
pulley
onto
gyro
shaft
so
that the
single-grooved
side
of the
pulley
is
positioned
toward
the
gyro
housing.
2.
If
the
pulley
is
secured
with
a
Trantorque®
mount:
Make
sure
the
pulley
seats
against
the shoulder
on
the
gyro
shaft,
then Insert
the
Trantorque®
mount,
gold
side
facing
toward
the
pulley,
so
that it
is
securely
positioned
against
pulley.
Securely
tighten
an
adjustable wrench
onto the
Hats
of
the
gyro
shaft
(above
the
plastic
cap)
to
keep
it
from
turning,
then
place a
5/8 inch
open-end
wrench
onto
the flats
of the
Trantorque®
mount
and firmly
tighten.
